“Welcome to my home”, General Ludwig greeted in his casual clothes. “What can I do for you?” General Ludwig asked. “It’s about the plan, brother-in-law”, Eru said. “Hmm”, General Ludwig slightly tilted his head, “Alexandro wanted to start already? What an impatient man”, he commented softly. “Fine”, General Ludwig stood up, “we’ll go get ready, and we will go to the Adventurers Guild.” Angelica pouted while looking at General Ludwig, “Don’t you mean just you? Evan and I are staying here. Isn’t that right, little brother?” Angelica said while rubbing Eru’s head.
“Both you and Evan, maybe. But I’ll be going with my brother-in-law to the Adventurers Guild”, Eru replied. Evan nodded, “Eru is right. We will need to stay here. At least until you sobered up a little”, he said. “Then, wait for a while. I’ll go and change”, General Ludwig said. “Oh, oh. I’m coming with you” Angelica let go of Eru and proceeded to follow General Ludwig. As Evan watched Angelica and General Ludwig leave, Evan looked at Aelgh, Meng Huo and Long, “So, you three are Eru’s friend, huh?” he asked.
Aelgh shook her head, “Unfortunately, your little brother and I are just acquaintances”, Aelgh said with a small smile. Meng Huo nodded, “I’m not young master Eru’s friend. I’m kind of his servant”, he said. Evan flinched a little, “Ah, really?” then Evan turned his attention to Long, “How about you? Are you Eru’s friend?’ he asked while staring right at Long’s eyes. The previously haughty Long now was taken aback when Evan asked him a question. When Evan stared at Long’s eyes, Long could see the immense power that the human in front of him possessed. ‘As expected from brother Eru’s biological older brother. However, why is his hair blonde? Is he a gold dragon?’ Long pondered, completely ignoring Evan’s question. Seeing that Long did not answer his big brother’s question, Eru grumbled, “Something like that.”
Evan leaned back on his chair, “If I may ask, where did all of you meet Eru? And how is he? Is he being a good boy?” Evan asked while smirking at Eru. Eru shook his head in disbelief as Aelgh giggled while Meng Huo chuckled. “Can you not tease me in front of other people, big brother? You’re becoming like big sis”, Eru sulked. “Haha, sorry, sorry. I can’t help it. I’m your big brother, after all. It’s the big brother’s job to tease his little brother”, Evan said with a big smile. “Alright, alright, stop teasing our little brother like that, Evan. Give him some break”, Angelica said with a smile as she emerged with General Ludwig. “Alright, I’m ready to go”, General Ludwig said, “Before we depart, however, I would like to meet with your companion face to face personally, Eru.”
Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “What for?” General Ludwig smiled, “I need to know the capabilities of the personnel that are going to be in this operation.” Aelgh flashed a gentle smile, “Of course, we will not mind, right guys?” she said. Meng Huo nodded while Long had a plain expression on his face. “Then, follow me”, General Ludwig proceeded to walk outside alongside Angelica. “Oh, you’re going to use that? Then, I’m in. I want to see also”, Evan stood up and followed General Ludwig. Aelgh slowly stood up and proceeded to follow General Ludwig with Meng Huo. Long approached Eru, “How strong is your older brother exactly, brother Eru?” Eru smiled proudly, “Very strong. Even if I was to go all out, I could not hope to match up to my big brother right now.”
“Is that so?” Long rubbed his chin, “Then, this will be interesting” a spark of fighting spirit flashed inside Long’s eyes. Looking at this, Eru shrugged his shoulders, “Suit yourself. However, be sure to go all out against him. One thing I will tell you about my brother is that he does not know how to hold back in a spar”, Eru warned. “Then, it’s good enough for me”, Long said with a grin. After that, Eru walked together with Long, following General Ludwig to a familiar-looking building. “This is—” Eru exclaimed. “Yes, it’s just like ours. A training hall made by the D/D Group”, Evan said. “Did Duncan give you personally, brother-in-law?” Eru asked. “No”, General Ludwig shook his head, “I had to buy this one from him. It almost cost me an arm and a leg” he smiled bitterly.
“Go on, come inside”, General Ludwig waved his hand. Once inside, Aelgh gasped, “These are amazing. Are these all your doing, miss Angelica?” she asked with gleaming eyes. “It’s not much”, Angelica waved her hand, “It’s just something I work on with Aunt Alicia in my spare time.” Meng Huo looked at the room, confused, “What are these things? Why can I feel something incredible from them?” Long furrowed his eyebrows, “Time element magic circles. Never thought I saw these things here”, he uttered. General Ludwig smiled, “What astute eyes. You are right; these are time element magic circles arranged into a formation”, he said. “Angelica, activate the formation!” General Ludwig said. “Aye, aye”, Angelica took out a pretty staff from out of nowhere before injecting mana into the magic circles.
The time element magic circles all lit up then General Ludwig took out an exquisite trident. “Who wants to go first?” General Ludwig smirked as he looked at Aelgh, Long and Meng Huo. Long furrowed his eyebrows, he looked at Eru with a hint of disappointment. Long eyes said, “Why should I face this guy?” Eru smiled wryly before shrugging his shoulders, “Deal with it”, Eru replied with his eyes. Long sighed, “Fine, I’ll go first”, Long said before taking out his iconic red staff. “You are a mage, right?” General Ludwig asked. “I am; what of it?” Long replied while taking on his stance. “Interesting. You took a melee stance despite being a mage”, General Ludwig commented. “Are we here to fight, or are we here to blab?” Long quipped. “Hahaha”, Evan could not hold his laughter, “I like this guy.”
“Haha, me too”, General Ludwig smiled before he flashed forward towards Long. Long was startled, “What the—” he exclaimed while raising his red staff. With a bang, General Ludwig’s trident clashed against Long’s red staff, creating sparks in the air. “Not a bad reaction; however, it’s not good enough”, General Ludwig said before brandishing his trident again at Long. “Damn it!” Long could only curse silently, facing General Ludwig’s relentless attacks. “Hmm, this young general is not bad. He’s quite capable in his move”, Meng Huo commented while crossing his arms. “What do you think, young master Eru? Could master Long win this fight?” Meng Huo asked, turning his head at Eru.
“It’s hard to tell. So far, General Ludwig only used martial moves against Long. He still did not use his aura to fight” Eru furrowed his eyebrows. Aelgh yawned, “What’s so interesting about men fighting with sticks? If it was me, I would just quickly blow them up”, Aelgh uttered. “Haha”, Meng Huo chuckled while scratching his head. Eru squinted his eyes as he watched Long struggling against General Ludwig. “What’s wrong, kid? That all you’ve got?” General Ludwig taunted. “Tch”, Long clicked his tongue before trying to counterattack General Ludwig. However, the latter was way too skilful for Long as he continued to parry every single attempt from Long. “Fuck you!” Long cursed out loud before a red magic circle appeared below his feet. “Boom, fucker!” Long snapped his fingers as a fairly large explosion suddenly engulfed both him and General Ludwig, creating a wall of smoke around them afterwards.
Eru sighed at the sight of this, while Meng Huo nodded with a smile. “An amazing display of bravery”, Meng Huo praised. Aelgh chuckled, “That red-haired kid is not so bad. To even dare use his own body to trap the general is daring.” Evan and Angelica that stood on the sideline, all had their mouths agape. “The audacity of that kid”, Angelica scoffed, “Although I know that Ludwig will be fine, I can’t believe that red-haired kid. To think he dared to explode himself alongside the enemy….” Evan lightly chuckled, “Haha, you are right. That red-haired kid is amazing. I would have him under me if I could”, he commented. “Hahahaha”, sounds of laughter resounded from within the smoke, “What a daring young man. I like you, I really like you.”
General Ludwig’s hand came out from within the smoke while holding on to Long’s neck. “Rah!” General Ludwig shouted while throwing Long toward a nearby wall. “Guh”, Long landed on his bottom as he slid from the wall. As the smoke cleared, the sight of General Ludwig’s unscratched body revealed itself. General Ludwig looked at Meng Huo and Aelgh before twirling his trident, “Unfortunately for you, I am all fired up. Now, who wants to go next?” General Ludwig said as he pointed the tip of his trident towards Meng Huo and Aelgh.
