Chapter 253: Chapter 253
“Shall we start?” General Ludwig asked while pointing his trident at Meng Huo. “Sure, I can’t wait”, Meng Huo clenched his fist.
Right after that, Meng Huo’s fists each glowed different colours. His right fist glowed red while his left fist glowed blue. “Hmm? What is this? You’re a mage?” General Ludwig furrowed his eyebrows. He observed Meng Huo more closely, ‘Never expected this burly man to be a mage,’ General Ludwig thought to himself. “What? I’m not allowed to be a mage?” Meng Huo squinted his eyes. “Oh, no, no. I’m just surprised”, General Ludwig said. “Oh, okay”, Meng Huo shrugged his shoulders. Suddenly, however, Meng Huo rushed out from his spot. “What the—” General Ludwig exclaimed as Meng Huo suddenly appeared right in front of him. “Peek a boo!” Meng Huo smirked as he clenched his red fist.
After that, Meng Huo brandished his right red fist right at General Ludwig. “Take this, ha!” Meng Huo yelled. With a bang, Meng Huo’s right red fist hit General Ludwig’s trident, creating a small explosion between them. “Guh”, General Ludwig grunted as he was slightly sent back by the power of Meng Huo’s right red fist. “A strong battlemage? We haven’t seen one in ages”, Angelica exclaimed. “True. The last strong battlemage we found was our enemy”, Evan added. “So that’s why I felt some sort of fog around him. I thought it was weird that he had a layer of fog around him. It was less weird when he was a mage”, Angelica commented. “What? A layer of fog? Why did I not notice it?” Evan slightly furrowed his eyebrows.
“You don’t? That means that battlemage is our equal”, Angelica rubbed her chin. “Really? He’s at least a 7th Circle Mage? Wow, never expected little brother’s servant to be as strong as us”, Evan pondered. While Evan and Angelica were talking, the battle between General Ludwig and Meng Huo was still underway. “Hmm, now that I think about it, I don’t think the battlemage was our equal. Look at him”, Angelica pointed her finger. “The way he used mana is strange. The battlemage used mana like he was an apprentice or a newly circled mage”, Angelica added. Evan rubbed his chin, “But if you looked at his movement, that battlemage did not move like a newbie”, Evan commented.
“That is why it’s strange. The way the battlemage utilized mana is like a newbie. But, the disguising spell around him and the way he moved and fought does not look like an amateur” Angelica crossed her arms. “Well, everybody has their secret. We shouldn’t pry”, Evan shrugged his shoulders. “Huh, sometime you said a correct thing”, Angelica said with a grin. “What do you mean? I always said the correct thing”, Evan slightly pouted before his attention was brought back to the fight between Meng Huo and General Ludwig. “Aargh!” Meng Huo delivered a barrage of punches to General Ludwig. With each of Meng Huo’s punches, there were explosions of ice and fire that General Ludwig managed to skilfully block.
However, even though General Ludwig could block Meng Huo’s attacks, the explosions of ice and fire still managed to damage General Ludwig slightly. “How would you like this!” Meng Huo gathered his hands together, and a mix of ice and fire’s mana mixed in Meng Huo’s gathered hands. “Ha!” Meng Huo opened his hands before blasting the mix of ice and fire’s mana into a beam toward General Ludwig. General Ludwig grunted before dodging Meng Huo’s ice and fire beam. “You are strong, but I know enough”, General Ludwig quipped before sending Meng Huo flying backwards with the back of his trident. “Gah!” Meng Huo coughed as his back hit a nearby wall. “Now, this just left you”, General Ludwig pointed his trident at Aelgh.
Aelgh smiled gently before stepping forward to meet General Ludwig. “My name is Aelgh, a pleasure to have your acquaintances.” Suddenly, Aelgh jumped backwards before waving her hand. A couple of ice spikes were shot toward General Ludwig. “Heh, cheeky brat”, General Ludwig smirked while spinning his trident. The multiple ice spikes that were shot by Aelgh were destroyed by General Ludwig as he spun his trident. “Hehe, that’s not all my attacks”, Aelgh smirked as she shot another batch of multiple ice spikes. Instead of staying and defending, General Ludwig continued spinning his trident as he moved forward, destroying Aelgh multiple ice spikes in the process.
“Haha, general, please, don’t be so pushy”, Aelgh teased while waving her hand once more. A cone of ice came out from Aelgh’s hand, assaulting General Ludwig. “Tch”, General Ludwig clicked his tongue as he swung his trident horizontally. The cone of ice that came out from Aelgh’s hand was destroyed thanks to a single swing from General Ludwig’s trident. “That’s not enough, general”, Aelgh giggled while waving her vertically. After seeing that, General Ludwig’s senses were tingling as he jumped backwards, avoiding a pillar of ice spike that emerged from the ground. “Why are you distancing yourself from me, general? Don’t you want to see me up close?” Aelgh said before shooting another batch of multiple flying ice spikes.
“Guh”, General Ludwig grunted as he spun his trident once more. “Don’t you get tired of the same move, general?” Aelgh said with a smile. Right after that, Aelgh pointed her open palm at General Ludwig. A red magic circle emerged in front of Aelgh’s palm, and a fireball was shot right when General Ludwig stopped twirling his trident. “Damn it!” all General Ludwig could do was just cursed inwardly as the fireball hit General Ludwig clean on his body. The fireball exploded, sending General Ludwig flying backwards. “Ludwig!” Angelica exclaimed as she watched Aelgh’s fireball hit General Ludwig cleanly. “Urgh”, General Ludwig clutched his arm as he tried to stand up, “I’m okay. She held back”, he said before leaning on a nearby wall.
“What do you think about that, General Ludwig?” Aelgh said before winking at General Ludwig. To the side, Eru shook his head while sighing, ‘That Aelgh… She’s just playing around with brother-in-law. There’s no way a 6th Grade Aura Master like brother-in-law could match the might of an 8th Circle Mage like Aelgh,’ he thought to himself. “Alright, alright. You guys all pass. Now, I know what I should plan against the mayor’s faction”, General Ludwig said with a wry smile.

“So, is everyone here?” Alexandro asked as he folded his hands together. “I think so”, Syndra said while observing her surroundings. “Is this all your forces, guild master?” General Ludwig, who stood right beside Alexandro, asked while slightly raising one of his eyebrows. “What, you’ve got a problem?” Alexandro rolled his eyes. General Ludwig shrugged his shoulders, “No, no, I don’t.” Alexandro sighed before looking around him. Alexandro found Eru was standing right in front of everybody. Long was behind him while Meng Huo was beside Long. Aelgh was sitting down on a folded chair while sipping on a cup of tea, and Sydney was standing beside an influential person inside of the Sylvan Kingdom, Duncan from D/D Group.
Not only that, Alexandro found two members of the Royal Army, Commander Evan and Grand Mage Angelica, standing beside each other while leaning on a nearby wall. Then, Alexandro slightly raised his head, looking at Deddy, May and the rest of the available adventurers around them. “Hmm, it should be around twenty adventurers over there”, General Ludwig commented. “Less than I thought, but that will do”, Alexandro said. “Hmm, have you sent the evidence to the Central Government yet, guild master?” General Ludwig asked. “A copy of them, yes”, Alexandro nodded, “However, the original is somewhere safe.” General Ludwig crossed his arms, “Then, I have nothing more to worry about. Don’t worry, guild master. With my help, I assure you that the army, except for those of the mayor’s faction, will not stand in our way”, General Ludwig said.
“However, they would not be participating in this small civil war. My men will focus on defending the civilians and not let them get into trouble”, General Ludwig warned. “That’s good enough for us. But, if that’s the case, then why are you here?” Alexandro slightly raised his eyebrows. “I’m here to join in, of course. Why else would I be here? I want to see how good your plans are”, General Ludwig said with a small smile. “Participate?” Alexandro squinted his eyes. “Of course. Who would want to miss such a fun time? After all, it has been a long time since I brandished my little trident”, General Ludwig said. “Just for that?” Alexandro asked. “Uh-huh. Of course, I would disguise myself. Wouldn’t want to be fired, right?” General Ludwig winked.
“Why would you be fired for? Hah”, Alexandro sighed, “No matter. It was a piece of good news to us if you participated. And what about those two?” he pointed at Commander Evan and Grand Mage Angelica. “Oh, them? Of course, they would not join in. The royal army prohibited them from joining in any form of civil war unless it involved the royal family. They are just here to watch out for their family member”, General Ludwig said while smirking. “Hah, that’s smart”, Alexandro turned his attention towards Eru. After that, Alexandro stepped forward before inhaling. “Thank you for gathering here, everyone”, Alexandro let out a loud voice. “The moment we are waiting for is finally here. Today, we will root all the corruption from the mayor and take back our freedom!”
