Chapter 259: Chapter 259
“A really advanced illusion magic”, Long exclaimed while he squinted his eyes. “Yup, that’s right. The one that set this up must have been a 5th Circle Mage or above”, Aelgh said. “All the more reason for us to be careful”, Eru commented. “Just a 5th Circle Mage… We could easily deal with someone at that level of power”, Long said with a crossed arms. “Haha, it will never hurt to be more careful”, Aelgh said with a small smile. “The one worthy of our attention is that red-haired woman”, Long uttered. “You are right, master Long”, Meng Huo said. “And don’t forget about the one that allowed the red-haired woman to escape”, Eru added.
“I’m curious about meeting her, actually. That red-haired woman, I mean”, Aelgh pondered. “What can you do? Are you strong enough to deal against her?” Long questioned. “We won’t know unless we meet”, Aelgh said before winking secretly at Eru. Eru sighed before looking at his teammates, “Alright, how do you all want to do this? Should we split up, or should we stick together?” Eru asked. Aelgh looked up and down the giant clock tower before opening her mouth, “We should split up. However, since there are four of us, we should split into two teams.” Aelgh then raised her hand and pointed at Long, “I will be going with him”, she said. “Wait, what? Why me?” Long asked as he was slightly taken aback.
“Okay, works for me”, Eru ignored Long, “That means I’m with Meng Huo. You okay with that?” Meng Huo smiled while cracking his knuckles, “Of course, young master. I’m happy to oblige”, he said, grinning from ears to ears. “Good, then we will decide where each of us will go”, Aelgh said. Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “How about you two go downstairs while Meng Huo and I go upstairs?” he suggested. “Sure. Remember, we need to sweep every floor for enemies as much as possible”, Aelgh said. “Of course, I remember. Okay, let us go, Meng Huo”, Eru said. “Right”, Meng Huo replied before the duo left Long and Aelgh alone. Long was still taken aback by all this, “What about my opinion, brother Eru?” Long yelled out loud.
“Hahaha, now shall we begin as well?” Aelgh said after giggling. Long sighed before glaring deathly stares at Aelgh, “It’s all because of you.” Aelgh grinned, “What about it? Come on, we need to go down”, she said before she started walking. Long sighed once again in exasperation before begrudgingly following Aelgh. “Why do you pick me, anyway?” Long asked while following the girl wearing Sylphid Academy’s uniform in front of him. “Why? It’s because, among the three of you, I know you the least”, Aelgh repled. “Oh, and I felt that you could handle strong foes by yourself”, Aelgh added. “Of course I do. Who the hell do you think I am?” Long snorted. Then, Long suddenly furrowed his eyebrows, “So, you expecting a strong foe on the bottom floor?”
“You are strong and attentive too. I knew I did not choose wrongly”, Aelgh smiled. “Yes, I expected a strong enemy downstairs. Possibly the one that allowed the red-haired woman to escape”, Aelgh added. “How did you know?” Long asked. “I briefly scanned the entire area once we entered the giant clock tower”, Aelgh replied nonchalantly. “You scanned the entire area? How come I did not notice?” Long squinted his eyes. “It is simple. It’s just because I’m stronger than you”, Aelgh said with a huge grin. The tip of Long’s eyes twitched after hearing what Aelgh had said to him. “What, you don’t believe me? Then try scanning this place with your own power”, Aelgh provoked.
“Hmph, I’ll just do that”, Long said before proceeding to scan the entire area with his mana pulse. “Strange… I could not feel anything”, Long said with furrowed eyebrows. “That’s because this place had an additional mana disturbance formation apart from the high ranking illusion magic earlier. You should know what this means”, Aelgh grinned. However, just before Long could reply, two humanoid figures cloaked in black appeared before them. “Who are you?” Long asked. However, instead of replying to Long, the two humanoid figures cloaked in black just approached Aelgh and Long slowly. “All who trespass will die!” the two humanoid figures cloaked in black said in unison before proceeding to charge at Aelgh and Long.
“Imbeciles!” Long shouted as he took out his red staff. Then, Long imbued his red staff with his mana, causing the red staff to glow bright red. After that, Long swiftly swung his mana-imbued red staff towards the two humanoid figures cloaked in black. The two humanoid figures cloaked in black were instantly burned to crisp, leaving nothing but their ashes behind. “Hmph, weaklings”, Long snorted while Aelgh clapped her hands. “Beautifully done”, Aelgh praised genuinely. “Let’s not dawdle here any longer”, Long clicked his tongue before walking forward. “You are quite the two-faced person, huh?” Aelgh said as she walked beside Long.
“What do you care?” Long grunted. “You act all docile in front of Eru while in front of others, you act cold and distant”, Aelgh said. “What do you know? Brother Eru is different from all other people”, Long snorted. “In that regard, you are right”, Aelgh said with a smile. “Hmph, glad you understand”, Long said. “Hmm?” suddenly, both Aelgh and Long furrowed their eyebrows at the same time. “Something is coming”, Aelgh said. “Heh, looks like I can finally have a little fun after the earlier disappointment”, Long said with a small grin. Then, a ball of giant rock emerged from the ground. After that, a humanoid figure cloaked in black dived from the air, landing cleanly on top of the giant rock.
Then, the humanoid figure cloaked in black put its hands onto the giant rock before its hands were sucked inside by the giant rock. The humanoid figure cloaked in black’s body was being sucked too, leaving only its head on top of the giant rock. After that, the humanoid figure cloaked in black’s eyes glowed red before the giant rock grew arms and legs. Then, rocks began to cover the humanoid figure cloaked in black’s head, and the round, giant rock began to morph into a giant humanoid shape. “A human-based golem!?” Aelgh exclaimed while watching the giant rock’s transformation. “Hah, I haven’t seen one of these in ages”, Long said with a small grin on his face.
As the giant rock transformation into a humanoid golem was completed, Long felt a hint of joy as he flashed a brief smile. The humanoid golem roared. And with its roar, the area around the humanoid golem seemed to shake. “Hahaha”, Long let out a laugh, “This should be a little bit interesting. You will do for a warm-up.” Then, Long turned his head sideways, “You, don’t interfere. That is my prey”, he said. Aelgh put her hands up while shaking in exasperation, “Yeah, yeah. It’s all yours”, Aelgh said while slightly rolling her eyes. “Hah!” Long then yelled before jumping upwards toward the giant, humanoid golem. “Die!” Long shouted as he imbued his staff with fire mana. The giant, humanoid golem roared toward Long as if it was accepting Long’s challenge.
The giant humanoid golem set out a fist while Long brandished his mana imbued red staff. As the two collided, they created a massive spark that sent Long flying back while the giant, humanoid golem slid backwards. Fortunately, with Long’s agility, he was able to recover in the air and land cleanly on the ground. “Not bad. But can you handle a stronger force?” Long said before red-coloured mana surrounded him. After that, Long pointed his red staff toward the giant, humanoid golem’s head before a red magic circle appeared. “Fire Lance”, Long chanted as a spear made of fire emerged from within the red magic circle. After that, Long shot his spell at the giant, humanoid golem, forcing the latter to block with its hands.
“I knew you were going to do that”, Long exclaimed with a small grin on his face while rushing toward the giant, humanoid golem’s knees. “Rah!” Long yelled as he brandished his red staff toward the giant, humanoid golem’s knees joints. Long’s red staff and his Fire Lance hit the giant, humanoid golem at the same time, bringing imbalance to its posture. “Roar!” the giant, humanoid golem roared as it tumbled from the imbalance, crashing hard, directly to the ground. After that, Long walked toward where the giant, humanoid golem’s head was. Then, Long raised his red staff, “Sayonara. In the end, you too aren’t enough for a warm-up”, he said before swinging his red staff down.
However, what Long was expecting did not come. Long felt something was hindering his red staff, blocking it from crushing the giant, humanoid golem’s head. Long furrowed his eyebrows when he saw what was preventing his red staff from destroying the giant, humanoid golem’s head. “What is the meaning of this?” Long asked with a deathly glare.
