Chapter 27: Chapter 27
We arrived at the front of the treasury. “You’re right; it is full of gold”, I exclaimed in awe. How rich was a person to use gold as a decoration for a room? “Right?” Diane’s eyes sparkle, “So, how do we do this?” Diane asked. I thought about it for a while, “Since you’ve already explored this place, why don’t you tell me where you have already explored, and we go from there” I suggested. Diane nodded, “Sure”.
We searched for hours, yet we didn’t manage to find the one thing we needed. “Sigh”, I rubbed the sweat off of my forehead in frustration, “Maybe it’s not here. The closest thing I found resembling a key was this” I held up a long gold stick. We both looked at each other and sighed helplessly. “Maybe it’s not here,” Diane said dejectedly. The little bunny that was quiet for a while began squirming in fear as it sensed something. “What’s wrong, little guy?” Diane asked. It moved its ear and mouth desperately, seemingly warning us about something.
Suddenly, the ground below us shakes uncontrollably as the ceiling above us fall. “Heads UP!” I barked as both Diane and I quickly escaped the treasury. Outside, we stared at the treasury in horror. A giant chest made of gold emerged from the ground. The chest opened its mouth, and sharp teeth and a long tongue comes out out of it. Its giant legs popped out from its body and stomped the ground, causing the ground to quake even more.
“What the hell was that!?” I shouted. “I don’t know, but it’s coming at us”, Diane added, “Let’s run”. I nodded as we jetted from there right away. “Pant, pant, pant. A monster chest, that’s new,” I quipped. “Yeah,” Diane said while panting, “I guess that place was a trap.” She then looked at the little bunny by her waist. “Don’t tell me, you’re trying to warn me against that thing?”
The little bunny was intelligent. It understood what Diane was saying, so it nodded. “Is that so? Then thank you, little guy!” Diane picked up the tied up bunny and hugged it. The little bunny shrieked in pain as its eyes plead to me. I let out a chuckle while Diane hugged the little bunny more tightly. Its face was swollen red while tears pour down its eyes. “Alright, Diane, the bunny’s going to suffocate if you continue like that”
Diane looked at the little bunny apologetically while the little bunny complained using its tiny mouth. I chuckled, looking at the little bunny antics. It reminded me of a really old cartoon back on Earth. Then, we felt the ground rumbled as the giant gold chest barged through. Diane immediately picked up the little bunny, tied it to her waist, and folded up her staff. I brandished my sword, “We’ll fight here, Diane. Are you up for it?”
“Yup”
“Then, we’ll fight!” I said while the giant gold chest opened its mouth and roar at us.

The monster chest started by spitting gold ball at me. ‘Fast’, I thought while dodging the chest monster’s attack. Diane’s eyes sparkle as a magic circle appears in front of her, “Ice Arrows”, she chanted. 4 arrows made of ice formed behind Daine’s back, and she pointed her staff forward, launching the ice arrows. It hit the monster chest’s leg, but it didn’t do much. “Tch!” Diane clicked her tongue as she prepared another spell.
I tried getting the monster attention by swinging at its other leg. It kicked its leg towards me, flinging me like I was a fly. Blood dripped through my hand, and my body felt heavy. Looks like I’m not fully recovered yet from my previous fight. I get up, albeit painfully, picked up my sword as I glared hatefully at the giant chest monster.
I saw the monster was about to hit Diane with its leg. Gathering up my aura, I coated my sword with it and swung it towards the chest monster, hoping to distract it. It worked as the chest monster turned its attention towards me. While it charges with its giant body at me, Diane finally completes her spell. Huge magic circle emerged below the chest monster’s body, “Blast it to hell, Explosion!” Diane yelled. Massive waves of flames engulfed the chest monster before exploding. ‘So that’s what a 5th Circle Explosion looks like. Compared to it, mine looks like a rat,’ I thought.
I swiftly position myself near Diane, never letting my guard down. We had serious expressions on our faces while we wait for the smoke to clear. As the smoke clear, we saw the chest monster trying to stand up as its leg stumbled. Our eyes met each other, and we seemed to think about the same thing. We nodded to each other as I gathered my aura while Diane was preparing another huge spell.
I jumped, aiming at the chest monster’s body; I thrust my sword forwards with my aura, not letting it get the chance to stand up. The chest monster roared in pain as I continued my attack. “It’s ready!” Diane barked. I jumped backwards as I see a colossal ice block covering the ceiling. “Take this! An original spell of mine, Colossal Ice Stomp!” Diane yelled, swinging her staff downwards.
*BOOM*
The colossal ice block hit the giant chest monster, making a massive crater on the ground.
