Chapter 40: Chapter 40
Davida glance down at her opponent. Her eyes fierce as she stared at the skeleton knight down with disdain. The skeleton knight glared hatefully at the human above it. “You…. What are you?” The skeleton knight pulled up his greatsword, getting into a stance with its sword hung low. Gone was the skeleton knight arrogant demeanour, as a look of wariness replaced it.
Davida raised her staff, a flame whip extended from the end of her staff. She swung the fire whip at the skeleton knight. Although the skeleton knight looked big and heavy, its movement was agile as it managed to avoid most of Davida’s fire whip. A bit of its armour melted from getting hit by Davida’s fire whip. However, Davida wouldn’t let up as she conjured another whip by her left hand and used it to corner the skeleton knight.
The skeleton knight grunted, but it did not lose hope as the fire inside its eyes were burning intensely. The skeleton knight patiently waited as it tried as much as it could to dodged Davida’s attack. After some time, the skeleton knight realised that Davida wasn’t going to let up attacking it. The skeleton knight eyes turned serious, ‘I need to do something to get out of this,’ it thought.
Suddenly, the skeleton knight eyes flashed. It let go of its greatsword, curling its body, rolling out to get out of Davida’s barrage of attack. Davida used her two flame whips to chase after the skeleton knight. The skeleton knight removes a piece of its armour, throwing it at Davida. Caught off guard, Davida was startled, and that gave the skeleton knight an opening. You see, the skeleton knight had an ability that Davida had never seen before. The skeleton knight could summon any of its armour pieces or its weapon. And the skeleton knight developed its abilities further.
Just before the skeleton knight’s armour pieces almost hit Davida, the skeleton knight swap it with its sword. Fortunately, thanks to her experience, Davida can react to situations like this. The fire whips grabbed on a ceiling as Davida used the fire whips to propelled herself up. The greatsword flew past Davida. The skeleton knight quickly ran towards its greatsword, grabbing it, then the skeleton knight quickly approached Davida to prevent her from attacking it again.
Davida cast a wind spell to soften her fall. Since she’s not a 6th Circle Mage yet, Davida still cannot use a flight spell. Slowly floating to the ground, Davida prepared a fire spell which was shown by the colour of the magic circle that appeared behind her. Seeing the skeleton knight rushed after her, Davida quickly released her spell. A barrage of fireballs flew towards the skeleton knight while the skeleton knight raised its greatsword, blocking some of the fireballs, relentlessly charging at Davida.
As the skeleton knight get close, it raised its greatsword, trying to slashed Davida in half. Davida’s eyes flashed; the moment she’s been waiting for has arrived. She pointed her staff at the skeleton knight’s torso. A red beam made of fire suddenly materialised, piercing the skeleton knight. The skeleton knight’s empty eye socket seemed to be popping out; it stared at the beaming red energy that pierced its torso in disbelief.
The skeleton knight raised its head, staring at Davida with a deadpan expression. Davida clicked her tongue with disdain, “Disappeared!” she said, snapping her finger before the flames engulfed the skeleton knight. The skeleton knight screamed, not willing to goes out like this, but the fire was just too strong. Slowly but surely, the skeleton knight was burned to ashes; its scream slowly faded away.
Davida then found herself inside a prison cell. A red orb slowly materialized on the wall in front of her. She picked up the orb, then after a while, the orb lights up. Three prison cells then opened up at the same time. Davida, Diane and Duncan come out at the same time, staring at each other. Davida frowned while Diane gasped, looking at Duncan, “Dun, you….” Diane said with her hand in front of her mouth, “You look handsome!”. Davida shook her head, sending a chop at Diane’s head.
“Are you okay, Dun?” Davida asked with concern in her voice. Duncan smile wryly, “I’m okay young miss. I need to use this anyway if we wanted to deal with the lion-headed lizard”. Davida nodded, “Then we better do this fast then”, she added, “You guys got an orb inside?” Davida asked. “I did” Duncan took out a dark blue orb from inside his pouch. Diane raised her hand, “Ooh, I got one too” she took out a rainbow orb and gave it to Davida. “It’s okay, hold it for me”, Davida said as she took out a red orb from her pocket.
“Hmm….” Davida rests her hand on her chin, closing her eyes and ponder. “Uhmm, young miss, can we please find a safe place first?” Duncan suggested. Davida opened her eyes and saw a horde of undead charging at them. “The cell below the stairs seems safe”, Diane advised. Both Davida and Duncan nodded, then the trio takes a formation before charging at the horde.

“See, big sis? There’s no need to worry about them. They’re all strong”, said the lion-headed lizard, Anthony. The little bunny stomped on Anthony’s head, “Yeah, but…. If you interfere that time, they all would be your food, right?” the little bunny squinted her eyes. The lion-headed lizard sweated profusely, “O-of course not. How can I kill them here?” Anthony said, stuttering.
The little bunny shot a beaming smile at Anthony, “Really?” The giant lion-headed lizard nervously said, “Sure”, he said, trembling. “Okay, I believe you”, the little bunny hopped on top of the giant lizard’s head. Anthony grimaced in pain from the little bunny’s hop. Although through outsider’s eyes, the little bunny hopped would do nothing to the giant lion-headed lizard but in reality? The little bunny sent hopped with mana infused through her leg.
“Sister… Can you please stop hopping on top of my head?” Anthony pleads with teary eyes to the little bunny. “What?” the little bunny shot a glare at Anthony, “You don’t like me then, huh?” she stared at Anthony intensely with her right eye while closing her left. “No, it’s not that, but….”
“But, what?”
“Nothing, nothing”, Anthony grumbled. “That’s the way. You’ll accompany me, right?” the little bunny threatened. The giant lizard nodded his head with fear inside his eyes.

“Di, on your left!” Davida warned. “Right!” Diane steps to the side; she used her staff to block a zombie attack. Mana gathered on Diane’s staff as a red magic circle appears, “Fire Blast!” Diane shouted. The zombie’s innard exploded from an explosion of fire from Diane’s staff. Duncan swung his greatsword with his aura coated on it, creating a crescent moon energy blade that chopped a few undead’s bodies clean. Now that Duncan was back at his prime, he felt good, and his aura is more potent as Duncan’s dark yellow aura appeared more clearly than before. “Path secured!” Duncan shouted. Davida and Diane nodded as they both ran straight towards the stairs.
As soon as Davida and Diane were at the stairs, Duncan stabbed his greatsword in the ground, imploding it from inside, causing a crater that blocked the undead from advancing. They weren’t in the clear yet, though, as even more undead were awaiting them below the stairs. Although the safe area was just under the stairs, the path towards it was filled with undead. Duncan steps forward, valiantly holding his greatsword, “Leave it to me!” Duncan jumped; his body felt powerful before stomping down, killing a dozen undead at the same time.
The undead shifted their attention towards Duncan, “Now, young miss!” Duncan barked. Both Davida and Diane nodded, taking advantage of the situation, quickly ran towards the safe jail cell. Entering the jail cell, Diane was about to close the cell door before remembering that Duncan was still out there. “Dun, come on!” Diane shouted. Duncan nodded, then he proceeds to head towards the safe jail cell. However, before he managed to do that, the Dullahan come straight from the sky, blocking Duncan’s path.
Duncan frowned; he felt that he cannot handle this enemy in front of him in such a short time. Duncan looked around, seeing the undead swarm in his direction; his expression turned grim. Realising that he’s at a disadvantage here, Duncan raised his aura to the limit, preparing to fight to the death. Then, a supergiant fireball hit the Dullahan, toppling it. Right after, vines spurted from the ground, dragging the Dullahan to the ground. “Now, DUN!” Davida shouted.
Duncan nodded; he slashed towards the legion of undead that blocked him, clearing a path for himself. His dark yellow aura flared up intensely as another swing from his greatsword took out a dozen more undead. When Duncan finally arrived in front of the jail cell, Diane closed the jail cell with her quick reflexes. When the jail cell closed, a protective barrier of some sort emerged from the door, all the way to about three meters of the jail cell.
The three of them breathe a sigh of relief before looking at each other. “Now, what do we do…..”
