The Demon King waited for hours, but Davida, Diane, and Duncan still haven’t woke up. The Demon King’s face twitched, “Fuck this! I’m not waiting another hour”, he said. The Demon King waved his hand, “Woke up!” he said. The healing chamber’s opened up, the green liquid inside spilt all over the white room, dyeing the floor green. But after a while, the green colour slowly faded away and turned into white immediately.
Davida, Diane, and Duncan’s respiratory unit come off, and all of them fell to the ground simultaneously. “Wake up, the three of you!” the Demon King said. As soon as he said that, Davida, Diane and Duncan’s eyes slowly open. They slowly woke up from their slumber as their consciousness returned to them. Davida opened her eyes first, followed by Diane, and Duncan was last. They look towards each other, “What happened?” David asked her two companions.
“Young miss, you’re all right!” Duncan exclaimed instead of answering. Davida nodded, “Yes, I’m all right”, she then looked at Duncan, “Dun, your hair, it’s back grey”, she informed. Duncan touches his hair before feeling his face, “Yeah, the technique effect has worn off”, he said weakly. “What about you, Di? Are you alright?” Duncan ask. As if she did not hear Duncan’s question, Diane kept staring at the ceiling. “Hello? Di?” Duncan waved his hand in front of Diane.
Diane sighed in exasperation, “We lost”, she said weakly. “What are you…. Oh yeah! Last I remember, we were fighting a giant stone golem on the throne room”, said Duncan with his hand pinching his forehead. Davida looked down, “Yes, we lose. So where are we?” she then proceeds to look towards her surroundings. Duncan looked around, “This place is familiar”, he said. Davida nodded, “Right, this place seemed to be the one where we always appeared after we finish the trials,” she said with a hint of understanding.
Duncan’s eyebrows raised, “Ah, I remember. So, does that mean we completed the trials?” After hearing Duncan, Diane clicked her tongue, “Or more like failed it”, she snickered. “Hahaha”, Davida bitterly laugh, ‘That Diane, always so competitive’, she thought. “Congratulation for figuring that out!” a mechanical voice sounded out of nowhere, startling all three of them. The trio turned wary at the sudden interruption done by the mechanical voice. “So, how does it feel to be a loser?” the mechanical voice tone slowly changing, from monotone into a man’s voice.
Then, a black figure was suddenly materializing in front of Davida and the others. “You!” Davida, Diane, and Duncan jumped up from the ground; they reached for their weapon only to find out that their weapon wasn’t with them. “Chill out, will ya”, the black silhouette completely materialised, then he crossed his arm before slowly turning his eyes on Davida, Diane and then Duncan.
“Congratulations for failing the final test”, the black silhouette said, smirking mockingly at Davida and the others. “What do you want?” Duncan said with a threatening voice. “What do I want?” the Demon King said; he continues “, No, what do you want?” he asked, emphasizing the word you.
“Huh?”
“Yes, miss elf. What do you want? What do the three of you want?” the Demon King teased. The white room got quiet for a while before the Demon King breaks the silence with a sigh, “It’s a simple question, right? What do you guys want?” Davida pondered, hesitated to answer the Demon King’s question. “Hahahahaha”, the Demon King laugh all of a sudden, “You don’t have to tell me; I already know”, the Demon King said. “Four of you come here for different reasons and purposes, which made sense seeing there were four different individuals, but now, there was three”.
‘What is this guy waffling about?’ Duncan asked in his mind. Davida and Diane, too, were similarly confused by the Demon King’s word. Realising his word made no sense, the Demon King choked, couching in embarrassment, “Ahem, what I’m trying to say is that I don’t care what your reasons are for entering here. What I’m asking is, what do you want to do going forward? As you can clearly see, there’s only three of you left”.
Davida, Diane and Duncan had a look of realization as Eru was not with them when they woke up. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. Poor Eru”, the Demon King had a huge smirked on his face. “What did you do to him?” Duncan said glaringly at the Demon King. “Temper, temper, temper. You need to learn how to chill out, old man”, the Demon King mockingly said, “As for what did I do to him… Well, let’s just say he is still suffering inside my castle”, the Demon King provokingly said.
Duncan and Diane glared hatefully at the Demon King, “Give him back”, they said in unison. The Demon King laughed, “Sure, I’ll give him back to you”, the Demon King smiled. “What’s the catch?” The Demon King leaned his head back a little, “Complete the previous trial first, then I’ll give you to him”, he paused, “Of course, you all can just refuse. Don’t tell anyone that I did not give you a choice.”
“Fine, let us….” Before Duncan could manage to finished his sentences, Davida put her hand in front of Duncan, stopping him. “Wait a minute Dun. It might just be a trap”, she explained. “But, young miss….” Duncan wanted to retort, but Davida shot a glare at him. That quietened Duncan a bit. Davida turned her head, looking intensely at the Demon King, “So we can just refuse? Then what? Will you let us go?”
The Demon King looked amused, “Sure, I’ll let you go. Besides, you lot already had plenty of rewards from this place”, he then pointed towards Duncan, “Especially you.” Duncan flinched, “Me?” The Demon King nodded, “Yes, you. The Dragon’s Rage technique should’ve left you dead. I saved you!” he said.
“Dragon’s Rage?” Duncan’s eye went wide, “Is that what’s it’s called?” The Demon King stared dumbfoundedly at Duncan, “You don’t know? Then, how do you learn that technique?” Duncan hesitated, “Well…” when Duncan’s about to tell the Demon King, Davida interrupted him, “So, does that mean we can go out now?” she glared at the Demon King. The Demon King chuckled, “Don’t be so tight up, chill lady….” He stared back at Davida before heaving a sigh, “Fine, you can go out. But, remember, once you go out, you cannot go back in unless you had specified some special conditions.”
Davida nodded, “That’s fine by me. Can you send us back now?” The Demon King waved his hand, “Sure, sure” then Davida, Diane and Duncan vanished one by one. After they vanished, a little bunny appears from the corner of the white room, “She’s smart, that red-head”, the little bunny said. The Demon King nodded, “Be careful, alright?” Willa nodded, “Sure”, she said before vanishing.

Davida, Diane and Duncan appeared suddenly outside, in front of the front gate and below the waterfall. “We’re back out”, Diane exclaimed, looking up into the bright blue sky. “Ah, the bright outdoors”, Diane stretches her arms, welcoming the fresh air outside. Duncan still looked dumbfounded at his technique’s name and towards Davida’s decision. Sensing Duncan’s gaze, Davida spoke, “Do you want to know my reason Dun?” she asked gently.
“I do”, Duncan answered. “Let’s put it this way,” Davida began to explain, “Do you think that we’re able to clear the final trial, Dun? Tell me honestly.” Duncan lowered his head, “No, but we shouldn’t leave a fellow friend like that”, he said. Davida gently shook her head, “What’s the point of repeating the same trials just for us to fail and fail again? Come on, Dun. I thought you were smarter than that”, she smiled.
“What do you mean, young miss?” Duncan asked. “Do you really not know Dun? That bastard was testing us. If we were to accept, what do you think will happened? Besides, the guy did not say that we cannot come back there”, Davida explained. Realizations dawned on Duncan while Diane just smiles at Duncan. Davida nodded, “Right. We need to bring in reinforcement from headquarters, then we can go back here,” she said. “And, we all like the guy”, Diane interject, “Especially young miss”, she smirked. Davida’s face goes red, “Diane!” Davida shouted in embarrassment. “Kyun!” then a little bunny’s voice can be heard from below Diane’s feet.
“There you are, little guy!” Diane picked up the little bunny. “Where did you go, little guy? We’re worried about you”, Diane said, hugging the little bunny tightly in her chest. The little bunny let out a cry for help as she being squished by Diane’s bouncy melons. The little bunny managed to wrangle free her hands before sending a chop on Diane’s head. “Ouch! What are you doing,’ Diane rubbed her head. The little bunny let her tongue out at Diane, causing her to be irate, “You bastard! Come here!” she chases the little bunny around the ancient gate.
“Hahaha”, David and Duncan laughed at the same time, watching Diane and the little bunny’s antics.

“So, they left, huh….” I looked down, dejected. “Yeah, I guess they all didn’t like you”, the Demon King smirked. “So, what now? Are you going to hold up your end of the bargain?” I stared at the Demon King intensely. The Demon King leaned his all-black figure towards me, “I always, always, hold my end of the bargain”, he said. I took a deep breath, “So, when do I start?”
