Chapter 77: Chapter 77
‘How the hell did he do that?’ this question popped up in many people heads when they saw Eru cast a spell despite being an aura master. They were even more surprised now than when Judd stopped his bleeding with his aura. They all looked at Eru with curiosity, fear and awe as the explosion’s smoke filled the entire arena. The one in question, Eru, panted heavily. He felt pain in his left shoulder as he stared in the direction of the smoke. ‘I think he’s not done yet’, Eru thought. He could still feel Judd’s aura flaring up inside the smoke. Then suddenly, realization dawned on Eru.
“Shit, he’s recovering”, Eru murmured. He gripped the black sword in his right hand tightly, “Sod it! I’m going in”, Eru resolved himself; he took a deep breath before rushing headlong towards the smoke from the explosion. Inside the smoke, Judd coughed. He scanned his body and found that his body was burned. He shook his head, “I did not think that kid would be able to do something like this. An aura user that is capable of using magic, eh. A defier, perhaps? Or maybe a master?” Judd mumbled to himself. “Either way, it looks like it will be hard winning against that kid with the state of my power level right now. Should I stop holding back?” Judd pondered before shaking his head, “Nope, I think that I should just lose” a smile formed on Judd’s face.
Judd took a deep breath; his aura began to heal him quite rapidly. Just when Judd was starting to heal himself, he felt a familiar aura was approaching him. Judd clicked his tongue in annoyance, “Damn it, kid! Lay of a little will ya!” Judd yelled out loud before readying his stick to intercept Eru’s attack. With a boom, the wooden stick and the black sword clashed again with each other. The difference this time was that the owner of the black sword, Eru, only held the black sword with one arm. Having lost the feeling from one of his arms, Eru was at a disadvantage when the black sword clashed with the wooden stick.
Eru knew of this, but he knew that he had to stop Judd from recovering like before, or he would surely lose. After the clash, Eru was staggered backwards a little bit, but he immediately stepped forward into the front of Judd’s torso. Eru twisted his body, and a kick emerged from down below, hitting Judd cleanly at his torso. “Fuck!” Judd cursed while his body was thrown far away, exiting the smoke and into the colosseum’s wall. Eru did not let up as he chased after Judd by putting all of his aura on his legs. Eru dashed from inside the smoke and into the disoriented Judd. “Go away, kid! Let me rest for a bit!” Judd yelled as he brandished his stick to meet with Eru’s sword.
This time Eru did not meet Judd’s stick head-on. Instead, he parried it sideways and used his shoulder to ram Judd into the wall more, burying the veteran deep inside. “Argh!” Judd grunted in pain as Eru’s barrage of attack continued. When Eru was about to slash, Judd immediately put up his stick to guard. This gave Eru ample opportunity to switch up his attack, and instead of slashing, he used the pummel of the black sword to hit Judd. With the combination of Eru’s black sword and his limbs, Judd was mixed up. Eru continued to pummel Judd into the wall.
Eventually, when Judd felt that he had enough, he gathered his aura deep inside of his body before shouting. “Go away!” Judd yelled out, an aura blast coming from inside his body, blasting Eru away, creating a distance between them. This did not deter Eru’s attack as he coated the black sword with his raven-coloured aura. He delivered a barrage of energy blades towards Judd, forcing the latter to continue his defence. ‘How is his aura so heavy?’ Judd asked himself while defending against Eru’s energy blade. ‘As expected from a defier or a master, they did not obey common sense at all’, Judd said to himself while slowly but surely approaching Eru while blocking the latter energy blades.
When Eru saw that Judd was slowly but surely approaching him while blocking his energy sword, he frowned in deep contemplation. ‘Do I need to do that again?’ he pondered deep in his head. ‘Let’s try to win without using that. If I lose, then so be it’, Eru said as resolution appeared in his eyes. Eru kept throwing the energy blades, but the pattern this time was different. He jumped around the arena, throwing the energy blades as he went. ‘He’s learning’, Judd’s lips curled up into a smile as he proceeded to block the energy blades that now came from various angles. Eru kept jumping around the arena while throwing his energy blades until eventually, the energy blades filled up the entire arena, making the energy blades resemble a tsunami that was about to hit Judd.
Seeing what had come for him, Judd just smiled, “This is it, huh… You win, kid!” Judd said as signs of an explosion appeared below his feet. Eru’s energy blades collided with his Explosion spell, creating a loud boom that even broke the colosseum’s arena barrier. The man in a fancy suit swiftly intervened before creating another barrier between the arena and the audience stand. The crowd went wild when they saw what Eru did. Even though the explosion was about to hit them, it did not dampen their abilities to cheer and applaud. Eru sat down on the ground, wiping the sweat off of his face. He breathed a sigh of relief, “This is it, right?” he hoped in his heart.

As the smoke inside the colosseum’s arena dissipated, the audience and Eru that had waited anxiously for the past minutes could see inside that the veteran, Judd, was lying on the ground. The man in a fancy suit suddenly appeared beside Judd and checked his pulse. When he confirmed that Judd was still alive, the man in a fancy suit heaved a sigh of relief before raising his hands, “The winner, Eru!” he pointed his right hand at the raven-haired young man. The crowd roared in excitement as they chanted Eru’s name repeatedly with a loud voice.
Even the audience that watched the fight through the broadcast was cheering Eru’s name. Soon, the whole Great Aeolus City heard of Eru’s name as the latter’s name reverberated throughout the city. When Eru was declared the winner by the man in a fancy suit, Eru slumped down to the floor. He was still panting in exhaustion, but Eru’s lips curled up into a satisfied smile. Eru’s fist closed into a small guts pose, “I did it”, he said to himself. Then, Eru was approached by a woman in a uniform. The woman crouched down; she put her palms at Eru’s left shoulder as a light came out from it.
Eru felt a cool sensation in his left shoulder. Eru turned his head at the woman in a uniform with gratified emotion. “Thank you”, he said gently. The woman in a uniform smiled gently at Eru, “Your welcome. I’m just doing my job.” After a while, the woman in a uniform stopped healing Eru, “That should be it. Let your shoulder rest for now, lest you want to open up your wounds again”, she said while standing up. Eru tried rotating his left shoulder, he found that his left shoulder was moving. “Thank you”, Eru said thank you once again to the woman in a uniform. The latter just smiled before leaving.
Eru stood up; he saw the audience were crazily cheering and applauding for him. That feeling nearly overwhelmed him, but he managed to hold on. He bowed towards the audience before leaving the arena through the west corner. Once Eru arrived at the west wing special waiting room, he laid down on the bed and immediately fell asleep with a smile on his face.

A few minutes earlier, inside the usually empty Adventurers Guild, there were three people with dumbfounded looks on their faces. Amelia looked at Mister Andre with a confused expression, “Uh, guild master, you know a lot, right? How can an Aura Master cast a mage’s spell? Can you tell me, please?” she asked Mister Andre with puppy dogs eyes. Andre did not reply to Amelia’s question because he was still shocked himself. “Hello, guild master?” Amelia waved her hand in front of Andre’s face.
When she saw that Andre did not budge, Amelia sat back down on the couch, pouting. “Hmph, fine. I’ll just ask Monty”, she turned her head at her colleague, “Hey Monty, do you know how? I wanted to cast a spell too.” However, Monty, too, did not reply to Amelia’s question as his mouth was still open agape. So Amelia began sulking on the couch, “Hmph, just you wait, you two”, she mumbled before she continued watching the fight.
