“Haah… Haahh… Haahh…”
He felt his heart thud, a thick, heavy beat that echoed painfully in his chest. His fingers twitched, gripping the edge of his metallic forearm spikes to keep himself steady.
Never before had he felt such unease, such… gut-wrenching dread.
He was a veteran, a giant among warriors, with strength that made him a well-known warrior that even the beings at the very top of Nexus knew of.
Yet here he was, rooted to the spot, trembling as he watched the nightmarish sight in front of him.
It was just a few moments ago when Vajra was pitying this newcomer, being surrounded by 10 low lives, strong ones at that, on the first day he came here, it could only be considered unlucky.
Facing four battle-hardened Sovereigns who had been doing this for thousands of years and had impeccable teamwork was bound to be difficult.
The newbie was in for a hard time.
Or at least that is what Vajra thought…
But…
Then it started.
“You have been following him for a while now,
Shouldn’t you come out already?”
The newbie called out.
“We got a bold one in our hands, eh?”
One by one, they came out.
It wasn’t just a people belonging to a single race, different beings of different races with all kinds of power were here. An ability to control void, ice, a sorcerous, a giant, a skeleton mage, serpent-like being who spewed lethal acid, honestly, there were so many beings with so many different abilities that for a newbie who had just appeared and most likely had no clue about what these beings and their abilities were, the battle shouldn’t be that hard.
“Indeed, I thought he was just walking around randomly and we would need to follow him for quite a long time before he walks into an alley like this.
But to think he would walk here on his own to lure us out…
A bold one indeed.”
The skeleton mage laughed.
“I could tell he would do something like this the moment I saw him! I like people like him who aren’t a wuss! Instead of attacking him, it would be better to recruit him instead.”
The Giant laughed.
“I won’t mind that.
We can use a handsome face.”
The sorcerous smiled, her breasts sensually bounced up and down as she moved. She looked like a human, but Nux could tell she was not. However, one couldn’t deny one thing, it was that this woman was a beauty.
And because of her remark, one of the four Sovereigns in the group furrowed his brows as he stared at Nux.
“He would still need to pay the price for acting up.”
He spoke.
“Hahaha! Of course, of course! I know that!
I believe that weird ship he has would fetch quite a good price, I am sure that would be enough, no?” The Giant laughed.
“Indeed indeed, that should be enough.” The sorceress laughed.
“Have you all lost your mind?”
Suddenly, the man questioned.
“That ship he came from looked quite novel, his clothes aren’t normal either, no matter how you look at it, this one reeks of wealth.
Why settle for just the ship when we can acquire everything he has?”
“Are you suggesting…”
“No one will find out what happened here anyway.” The man smiled.
“Who knows? We might get our hands on something valuable.
I honestly doubt that a storage device in his fingers that is capable enough to store that large ship would go for cheap.”
The moment they heard his words, the group’s eyes shined with greed.
In an instant, the sorceress changed her statement,
“I wouldn’t mind a handsome dead body either. I can preserve it for a few years with my magic.
I actually think that would be more exci-”
Before the woman could complete her words, she noticed the newbie’s figure flickering. She frowned when she realized that the newbie was trying to do something, she wanted to warn him and tell him not to do anything foolish but when she tried to speak, no words came out of her mouth anymore.
It was then that her vision started moving up.
‘W-What…?’
And only when she saw her group’s eyes widening in surprise did she realize what happened.
‘H-How…?’
The answer to her last question, however, was something she would never get the chance to find out.
“Huh? She died?
I only wanted to injure her though,
How was she cut in half?”
Suddenly, Nux, who was standing next to the sorceress’s body that was split in half, frowned and started thinking.
“Was she weaker than I expected?
Or was I unable to control my strength?”
Soon, however, he understood the reason.
“It must be because I didn’t like her face.”
He nodded continuously as if praising himself for finding the answer continuously.
“W-What…?”
Others couldn’t believe what they were hearing or witnessing.
The one who just died…
She was the third strongest in their group, a Sovereign.
And to think she died in less than a second…
How does that make any sense?
The group was taken aback.
Not that it mattered,
“So…”
Nux spoke, as he glanced at the rest of the group and,
“Who is your leader?”
“W-What?”
One of them stuttered.
Nux stared at the being, his golden eyes shined and suddenly…
*Slice*
The being was cut in half.
And Nux hadn’t even moved from his place.
“I won’t ask again,
Who is your leader?”
In an instant, Nux’s golden eyes, which were full of playful glint, turned dangerously cold.
Scared by the deaths of 2 of their members, the rest of them pointed at Skeleton Mage. He wasn’t the official Leader of the group since none of the people here wanted to work under someone, however, as the strongest and the most cunning of them all, he did make most of the decisions in the group.
“Y-Y-You bas-”
The Skeleton Mage, or the ‘Leader’ couldn’t believe how everyone pointed at him without hesitation.
He was even angrier because the same bunch never agreed whenever he talked about becoming the true leader, but to think they would all choose him to be the sacrifice now.
Of course, Nux didn’t care about the group’s dynamics. Just one look was enough for him to tell that these were just a ragtag group of nobodies.
Therefore, without giving the Skeleton the chance to say anything, he appeared right in front of him, placing his hand on top of his skull as if warning him not to try anything funny, or else he would crush his head the next instant.
“So you are the Leader?”
