“Wow, just wow…”
That is all Mira could say as she weakly leaned against me. Although, in a sense, she seemed to be taking things in a good manner, I could see that she was not right. The bundle of information I threw at Mira was something she didn’t expect at all, and even though she looked okay, I could tell that she was totally terrified inside herself.
‘Though she is taking it better than I thought.’
No one, in a sense, would be able to understand the despair that would be going through the heart of Mira right now. After all, how can one go against the dragon princess herself? The one said to be able to reach the level of the Dragon God themselves? A woman of great might and perhaps one of the future leaders of the world itself.
Not to mention that there is another half-dragon waiting to strike, her range of movement not as restricted as the dragon princess. No level of power can go against that, not right now and perhaps not even in the future. The only ones that can do that, that walk the earth, are the Curches themselves, but they won’t move for me, will they?
‘Well they all would actually, but that information doesn’t need to spread for some long time.’
I need the pressure and sense of loss and helplessness to fill them all. It’s something that is very important for my future plans to work. Thus, with a wry smile, I started to pat the back of Mira, who seemed to be going through a whole level of despair she had never faced before. How could she when she has never lost what she ever wanted?
The wall in front of Mira is completely helpless, she won’t be able to do anything about it at all. And thus, all she could do for now, taking in the major news, was to lean deeply against me. The strength she showed me all the time was nowhere, as only weakness filled her body as she leaned against me.
In the story that I spoke to her, I kept most of the truth about Scarlet, informing her of how things went between us till the breakup, just making sure to keep the info as us just hand-holding, with Scarlet having forced me to do it. But the main story change came with what happened with Celestinia.
The story went with the action that we met, we became best friends, I learned about her identity, we helped each other, and the situation became a bit too ambiguous with Celestinia. After all, in truth, we didn’t, in a sense, accept each other as lovers, the atmosphere was there, but nothing major had happened.
So I could throw my perspective as much as I liked it to be, and that’s what I did. The things flowed such that Celestinia seemed to have started behaving weirdly around me, our relationship took a turn, her turning colder, while I tried to be a good man, a good friend, taking in her taunts, dealing with her like a good person would, because I wanted to be a ‘hero.’
And Mira could understand it, with all the duties on my shoulders and with the fact that being young, I would have more of a chivalric side to me that hopes to make everything good. Thus, the story went like that, with Celestinia’s actions getting worse until she seemingly shouted out some feelings for me.
Which I had rejected at that moment, which led her to push me into that portal of the dragon gods’ test. It also played with how I had come to hate her, and the first time, I was betrayed, too, which led to some of my changes. Of course, I made small changes here and there till the last important part of the story.
The story where the story went to how Scarlet had forced me into a relationship, how I had met Celestinia, but she doesn’t seem to remember a thing about me at the beginning, and we did normal things, which I wanted. But then, into the story, I added the fact that Celestinia started acting strange around me, seemingly making some staged movements toward me that she doesn’t show to a guy, especially one that is dating her best friend.
I also added the fact that I found Celestinia happy with my relationship souring with Scarlet and that she had come to meet me one time, saying to wait for her. Of course, none of this ever happened, but Mira doesn’t need to know that. All she needs is the story I have to give her to show that perhaps even the dragon princess is aiming for me.
“I thought that romantic pursuits I had would be a headache you would face one day, but who would have thought the despair was in reverse…”
Mira muttered with a light, defeated kind of voice as I, sending my emotions of pain at her behaviour, ran my hand through her hair as I spoke with a hesitant voice.
“Maybe my speculation about Celestinia is wrong. I might be wrong…”
“Do you think a dragon princess would normally do such things if she doesn’t have any feelings for you?”
Mira, retreating, filled with weakness, could only make me shut my mouth as I kept patting her back in the hug, the two of us finding strength within each other as Mira kept muttering.
“I knew you could become popular and would definitely get to deal with a lot of girls, but I never expected the fact that it would get so worse. No wonder the ancient ways speak of war heroes getting all the unwanted attention they never need, their fate always being tied to the greatest powers in the lands…”
In a sense, Mira seemed to be misunderstanding my total achievements, but in a sense, it’s good for me. What she says is the truth: past heroes are always guided to receive a lot of help from the world itself, just like Leonardo is, if I wasn’t stopping a lot of his help. And just like that, the same logic can be used to play here.
At one point in time, the girls would notice the fact that a lot of girls were hovering over me, a count level that would definitely seem higher than normal, which would push others to question the scenes around me. After all, it’s not normal at all. I mean, what kind of coincidence is this? Could it be that it’s not natural at all?
It won’t take the smart ones long to understand the fact that perhaps everything wasn’t natural, causing them to doubt their love and perhaps even me. But with the hero protection I have placed on me, I will be able to turn it all around because there are precedents and legends of how beauty and power surround the blessed ones of the land.
It is very natural to have things that wouldn’t happen normally to happen around these heroes, like getting into situations where they meet powerful people, end up saving people that would one day become powerful, and more. Several situations come under such practices, and it’s all the same for chosen heroes.
There already exist large amounts of trend stories and historical information about the 11 heroes themselves, about the lives they have led, and more. Each of them points towards a status that can exist. Thus, into the future, it would be the main point on which I will be holding a lot of the suspicions that would no doubt fill the minds of the different women.
After all, how could it be my fault that most of the powerful uprising geniuses are mostly women? How would it be my fault that I entangled with each of them, saving their lives and, in a sense, their own minds? Isn’t it the problem of the world that placed such responsibility on me, such that these things would happen?
The world has already tortured me a lot, making me sad and making me go through a lot of hardships. Thus, to the girls who understand the ‘pains’ I have gone through they won’t be able to point their swords at me or their suspicions. After all, in a sense, aren’t I the victim here?
Of course, this won’t be very useful towards the ones that I have courted myself, but it helps a long way in proving the fact that I am not a womaniser or someone who led all these situations. Plus, it will also give them a sense of relief, a certain kind of longing that fate had put them in my way, such that they are important in my journey as a hero.
Even with all that, it doesn’t take away the issue Mira is currently facing. The wall in front of her is something she can’t even begin to face right now. And in a sense, right now, Mira can’t blame me either. The only thing she can blame is fate that has thrown these things into my lap, the heroic fate that has placed this on me.
“Why… why is this happening…”
Mira kept muttering as she clutched to me, seemingly afraid I would disappear from her grasp.
