Everything seemed to be spinning around Grace’s head of Grace as she kept taking in the information from Mira, her pain and betrayal being converted into a different kind of pain as she held her head, her words slipping from her mouth.
“Just… just give me a moment, I need to think.”
Her words barely had any power in them as she spoke, the issues of the current clutching against the problems of the past, and it’s not easy to remove those issues out. The truth hit Grace in the face again; once again, her son, her love, was suffering, and she was blind to see it. With a smile, he made them all happy while also trying to hold up their world all by himself.
The situation made her feel angry yet touched, and once again angry at the same time. They had promised themselves to reveal all their secrets to each other, to talk and tell each other the hardships or issues they would face, so they all could fight against it together.
And yet here comes the news again that he was holding out on them, hiding the information away to protect them all, and it was infuriating and loving at the same time. Mira could see the change happening around, and understanding the line of thought where this was going, she intervened.
“Don’t fall too much into that thinking; it’s not that Austin didn’t want to tell you all, it’s just the fact that he couldn’t. You should know that this is a dragon we are talking about.”
Her words halted some of the negative thoughts that filled Grace’s mind, but it was still filled with the self-loathing that she couldn’t see the suffering her son was going through, only making things even worse for her. But soon, with a deep breath, Grace regained her bearing, her mind settling down for the moment.
‘I can’t fall like the past.’
In the past, she had let the emotions take over her and not see the final picture. She had allowed her guilt to ride over the things she should have done, and it had only led to problems. Now, no longer does she want to be weak. In her flows the knowledge and powers of a legendary hero; once she gets them all right, she will definitely rise to a higher power.
‘Plus, I still have the support of a woman that matches the power of a dragon.’
The thought of Ariua slowed down her pain, her mind working to get out of the hold, and seeing it, Mira smiled. But it also came with the sadness of the second bomb she had to drop in the mind of Grace, and thus, taking some light breaths, Mira went forth to pat the back of Grace as she started to speak.
“It’s still not done yet; there is one more issue we have to keep our eyes on.”
Her words made Grace frown as she went forth to look at the wry smile on Mira’s face.
“Just as the legends say, heroes definitely have girl problems all their life.”
With that, Mira started the smaller yet more dangerous tale of the story about Celestinia, the truth of it flowing very smoothly as she mentioned the things that Austin had told her, the story going forth from friendship to mild like to great hate that ended up with a great betrayal that can’t be removed at all.
Mira went forth to talk about the suspicions Austin has in his mind, the things he had to deal with, the flow of it all, and the danger that is present in his life by falling into the love triangle of one powerful dragon and one future dragon empress, the whole thing looking as twisted as it can be.
“This is fucking bullshit.”
Words that are not graceful at all, words that Grace had spoken and picked up at her time of war, flowing from her mouth, destroying that noble lineage while her gaze just flew toward the top of the ceiling. All Grace thought her life’s biggest problem would be is the taboo that Austin would have to deal with from his relationship around that is not exactly well accepted.
She thought the biggest issue would be the fight Austin would have against the enemies that would want to hurt the world and destroy it, his biggest weight as the hero being something that would be the greatest obstacle, Grace thought. Heck, the family had already made all sorts of plans on what to do and how to present their relationships and deal with it all once Austin was done dealing with the issue of being a hero.
Grace and her daughters knew a time of peace would come, and a lot of loving plans had already gone into what would be done during the time of peace, and now a bomb so big that it couldn’t be easily dealt with had dropped right into the laps of the family and especially into the mind of Grace.
Grace knows how hard Austin is working; he not only wants to save the world but also wants to create a power that would protect them, power enough to control over the world. And it always seemed like after coming to the academy, Austin was always running after power as if what he has now is not enough at all.
Grace was already given a basic understanding of all the power that Austin wields, both physical and political, and it was more than enough to blow her mind. She always wondered what was running after him after he came to the academy, and now Grace has come to know a wall that is so big its end can’t be seen had now arrived right in front of the eyes of Grace, despair being the main element in her emotions.
Go against the future Dragon Empress, who is said to have the talent of the Dragon God?
How could even someone start to go against that? Even Grace felt a heavy feeling pressing against her chest at that thought, making her feel as if the whole world was spinning against her. And Mira, sitting beside her, held Grace tightly, providing a certain comfort as her words were right into the ears of Grace.
“Don’t fall, Grace. Remember that Austin has been fighting against this without showing any weakness. He desires to get out of this, and he is fighting it in a frontal battle. He hasn’t given up at all, so why should we?”
“It’s just if Austin was okay with this, then it wouldn’t have been a problem. But if he doesn’t like them, what right do they have to force my son into loving them?!”
Grace shouted, filling the area, her anger flooding, it also being mixed with immense sadness when she said the first words. But she isn’t foolish or naive enough not to see the fact that there might be girls that might perhaps try to get into the heart of Austin. After all, there are a lot of wonderful women within the academy.
And as much as it pains her heart, she also fears that one of them might get Austin’s heart or take him away from them. And that’s why she always tries to help her daughter to keep Austin close and makes sure that not many girls get a chance or even come close to him, for Grace knows how too many women could ruin many things.
And Grace also admits the fact her jealousy won’t allow it to; her heart hates the fact of another woman embracing Austin. The jealousy is kept on hold when it is her daughter’s, but she doesn’t wish for others to take over her son. It’s a selfish wish of hers, and moreover, what could other women give Austin that his family can’t?
But even then, Grace lives with that small fear in her heart that Austin might be taken away one day. After all, what problem could the other girls have at taking Austin away from them? Isn’t it easier for them to openly show their true love to him? These thoughts filled Grace’s mind with a lot of biased ideas.
And now a different path has formed. For all this time, Grace thought no matter the girls with the power they had in their hands right now, what kind of woman could forcibly take Austin away from them? And now, a chilling truth none of them could even begin to imagine had fallen into the eyes of the rest.
A truth that was making Grace tremble with anger in her seat, the despair of the disparity of power making Grace’s eyes redden. But the words that Mira spoke flowed smoothly into the heart of Grace, her mind calming down as the situation fell into place. If Austin was fighting against it, why can’t she?
“Did you talk to Austin about this?”
Grace asked, to which Mira replied.
“I got the full picture.”
Her words made Grace’s eyes flash as she spoke with a flame lighting up in Grace’s heart. A flame that burned through her heart to her whole body, filling it up as she spoke.
“Looks like we have a lot more to plan and discuss now.”
Her voice chilled as Grace spoke.
