Chapter 147: 147. WILD
Danger spread in Noah’s mind, but he hadn’t the time to focus on that sensation, since an object shot out of the now empty door space, to smash into the wall behind him.
Noah’s already expanded consciousness managed to capture what the object was, and Muillix immediately receded back into his body. He considered hiding Cudgel but decided against that. He wouldn’t handicap himself Incase of a battle.
Noah turned to focus on Jon’s body and he felt shocked to see five deep cuts that spanned from his chest, all the way down his waist. Blood pouring profusely from those Injuries.
The expert looked to have passed out, causing Noah to panic and move towards him, but his instincts suddenly screamed at him, and he pivoted his foot jumping sideways and landed on his bed.
Noah saw a burst of what resembled dark air shoot out of the empty door post, and collided with the stone wall.
The whole place shook at that impact, rubbles falling off the walls, as large cracks spread on the walls.
An even bigger wave of surprise filled Noah’s mind at that sight, and when he felt an aura that had long broke through the lower stage of tier 3 his body trembled.
Jon seemed to have been awokened by the sound of the impact. Noah’s ears managing to pick up his sharp breath amidst the sounds of falling rocks and even the dust that had begun to rise up.
“What the heck is going on?,” Noah barked at Jon, while his figure appeared in front of the man.
Pulling him out of the crater his body had formed, Noah watched the expert almost pass out again, but he gulped down two bottles of healing potion before that could happen.
During that period, Noah had managed to make out a loud growl coming from within the dark door post. His mind quickly placed the clues together, and he arrived at a grim conclusion.
“Is that supposed to be your pet?,” Noah had to raise his voice due to the jumble of noises around them.
A smile broke on the now stable Jon, then his eyes fell on Noah’s golden staff, causing him to shoot a questioning glance at him.
His saw Noah’s frown and immediately turned serious. “I see you’ve been reading,” Jon commented, “Yes she is,” he stated, “But I haven’t been able to bond her with myself completely,” Jon explained, a series of inscriptions appearing and disappearing during his words.
“I’ve only managed to achieve 50%. Even at that, it’s been a very long times since she’s been this violent,” Jon’s explained, pointing his palm at the empty door post.
His pointed palm featured a series of red inscriptions snaking up and down his arm.
A beam of red light shot out of that palm, then Jon’s mental voice rang in Noah’s head while he dashed towards the empty door post.
“I need your help to stop her rampage! Follow me,” Jon beckoned, but Noah didn’t move.
“What do I get from helping you. Last time I checked this wasn’t part of our agreement,” Noah shook his head.
Jon frowned at those words, but didn’t complain, “What do you want?,” he hastily asked, standing at the entrance to the dark room.
“Books for studying inscriptions,” Noah quickly replied, dusting off the specks of dust that fell on him.
“Done!,” Jon answered almost immediately, “Now follow me!,” he said hurriedly.
Noah smiled and dashed forward, but carefully. He arrived past the door post and his eyes fell on dimly lit room, but Jon moved to fix that problem.
The expert clasped his palms together before waving raising them above his head. Multiple spheres made from shining lines shot out of his palms, illuminating the room with their bright yellow radiance, which quickly overshadowed the red light Jon had sent into the room earlier.
Noah unconsciously drew his breath at the scene he witnessed. His eyes fell on a panther who’s height had definitely surpassed 50ft.
Its length spanned for around 40ft, not adding its tail that was multiple times longer than a fully grown man.
The panther was totally black. So black that Noah almost failed to make out its edge’s. Even its large eyes seemed to be covered by a dark membrane.
The sheer aura the beast emitted almost choked Noah, but his body fended it off quite easily.
The room they were in was far larger than the beast. Around 600sqm and 200m in height.
The entire place was covered with dark metallic plates that currently had inscriptions running on them.
Noah’s shot a questioning gaze at Jon, but the expert seemed to be completely focused on what he was doing, to react to his gaze.
Jon circled the beast which tried to slam him with its large paw. The panther didn’t move from its position, simply sitting, as it tried to squash its half master.
Noah quickly came to halt. He felt insulted by the beast for not noticing him, and surprisingly his body reacted to that feeling in ways he didn’t know it could.
Noah’s aura flared, as he felt his mind get overtaken by pride. His gaze condescending and filled with disdain.
He felt his body move on its own. When he raised his head up, a trickle of energy seeping out of his core and reaching his mind.
A powerful high-pitched sound, that Jon didn’t seem to percive, escaped Noah’s mouth and reached the panthers ear.
Noah felt all his former feelings get washed away when the panthers wild gaze fell on him.
Danger replaced those feelings and Noah sprinted away from his position.
A powerful roar escaped the beasts jaws, as its wild aura shot through the roof, then it moved.
Never in Noah’s time on Cregar had he seen something so large move so fast.
The massive panther almost instantly arrived at Noah’s former position the moment he left. The whole room trembled as its middle stage tier 3 aura filled the whole place.
Noah quickly arrived at Jon’s position, a sense of guilt appearing in his mind when he confirmed that the whole charade was his fault. Though it all happened without his consent, which was when his aura flared outside. He honestly wondered how the panther had sensed it through the metallic door.
“What do we do?,” Noah’s mental voice smashed into Jon’s mind. They didn’t have time to stand around.
“If you manage to keep her distracted for a minute or so, I should be able to complete the countermeasure i created for situations like this,” Jon’s mental voice replied, without his eyes leaving his rapidly moving hands, which flickered with tens of inscriptions.
Noah’s Instincts tingled again, and he shot upwards, managing to do a flip.
His feet touched the metallic ceiling, and when his eyes landed on the beasts back, he shot downwards towards it.
His figure arrived on the beasts back, and he didn’t hesitate to slam Cudgel on that body part.
Noah’s arms creaked and almost exited their respective joints, when he completed that attack.
He felt a slight wave of surprise wash over him when he realized that his attack had not left a mark.
He quickly jumped down the beasts, then dark spikes shot out of its back.
Noah felt a wave of excitement fill his existence when his mind confirmed that only by utilizing a significant amount of his full-power would he stand a chance of actually killing the beast. But he couldn’t kill it due to its unique connection with Jon.
“Darkness affinity, huh. It’s definitely the strongest beast I’ve fought so far,” Noah muttered while his environment slowed down as a result of the essence that had moved to his soul core.
Noah’s body hardened as energy tried to crackle around his figure, but his consciousness prevented that from happening.
He moved when the beast moved, causing them to clash head-on.
The panther clawed at him with talons covered in blackness, which radiated a dangerous aura.
Noah caused Muillix to wrap around his right leg, then he threw a kick at the descending paw, that spelled doom for most cultivators his level.
Their attacks connected, and the sheer power released from that collusion caused the ground beneath them to cave in by multiple foots. The two seemed to be equally matched.
