Chapter 170: 170. POTENTIAL TROUBLE
Sprinting on the sandy shore of sorts, Noah made sure to keep a safe distance from wall, ignoring the change of scenery.
The incident which just occured had been too close. He hoped the cultivators didn’t see his face, since things would become troublesome if they did.
His steps came to halt for he had arrived below a metal bridge which led Into the city.
The bridge stood a few ten meters above his current position, and was used to cross the small river between the city and the other landmasses.
Noah moved, and swiftly crossed the river, before sprinting towards a direction away from the orderly queues.
There were a few trees present, which were adequate enough to shield him from the eyes of people.
Noah immediately understood that the situation would most likely become slightly difficult, and a commotion at the gate confirmed it.
He had crossed a distance of a few miles to arrive there, and the information of a strange figure had already circulated.
Noah watched as a few soldiers Inspected the queues, and soon began drawing people out, before walking them away into the city’s gate. Those being walked away obviously didn’t like their situation.
Some individuals tried to struggle, and were rough-handled in the process, eventually being taken away, as their power wasn’t enough to escape the lower-stage soldiers.
‘I need a new attire,’ Noah thought Inspecting himself. His clothes didn’t look neat, as whole sections of his attire were missing.
He resembled someone who had just exited a wild environment, very odd amongst the neatly dressed citizens.
His eyes scanned the queuing Individuals, and found that a few of them; mostly those at the far end of the line, left their positions to avoid the still Inspecting soldiers.
The soldiers didn’t notice this as their full focus was on those right in front of them.
Spotting a young man who had an outfit he found pleasing, Noah began his slow walk towards this man.
Being one of the individuals that left their spot on the line in fear of what was going on, Noah managed to catch him alone, and his figure shot forward at the right moment, his movement utterly silent.
Noah grabbed the man like a doll, and brought him towards a secluded area amidst those tall trees.
The young man suddenly tried to scream; something Noah hadn’t seen anyone do in Creagar, but his mental waves stopped him.
Having covered his face with Mullix’s dark material, Noah spoke to the young man without fear of his identity being known.
Even without that mask, his identity remained unknown, as he had literally crossed the country, and was even supposed to be dead.
“Your clothes, give them to me,” Noah announced menacingly. His tone that of command.
The young man felt dumbfounded by the request, as he froze in surprise.
Noah frowned inside his armour, he didn’t like that lack of reaction, and moved to make himself clear.
“I’ll ask only once more, give me your clothes,” he spoke, allowing the pressure his figure naturally gave off, but had been concealed, to seep out.
Fear and panic spread inside the your man at that point. Being a mere peak-stage tier 2, his natural defense couldn’t withstand that pressure for long, so he quickly began putting off his clothes, not minding Noah’s unmoving gaze.
Waving his hand to store the clothes, Noah has another idea, and though he didn’t like it, he still went on with it.
“How much do you have on you?,” He asked feeling shame spread in his mind.
His very being hated that action as it made his pride crumble.
Would such a unique existence be reduced to a mere common thief?
Noah felt a battle go on in his mind on that matter. Part of him felt he needed to take such actions since he still had a time limit on his days of calm. While the other part felt he shouldn’t stoop so low as to practically beg for money.
He had enough power to make as much as he wanted if he were in the right place, which was where they planned to go.
The battle ended in a draw, either part not being able to win, and Noah felt a wave of anger hit him.
The internal strife had barely lasted a second.
The young man widened his eyes at what was going on, and Noah managed to sense a tinge of disgust in his eyes, causing for even more anger. He felt stupid.
The young man said nothing while waving his hand to allow a small bag appear. The sound of coins spreading at its impact with the ground.
Noah honestly didn’t expect much from the man, as he didn’t look to be a noble or anyone rich, and his hunch proved partially correct.
Noah counted exactly 230 small silver coins, which were more than he currently had, but wasn’t anything ground-breaking.
There was also the possibility that the young man hid the rest from him, but his furious pride wouldn’t let him receive more looks of disgust.
Noah picked the purse and his figure immediately vanished, leaving the young cultivator even more stunned.
Putting on the clothes, Noah figured he shouldn’t stay on the line yet.
The young man definitely had more clothes in his ring, and would probably come looking for someone dressed in his stolen attire.
A few tens of minutes passed, and Noah actually sighted the young man again.
He had a new attire but this time his figure featured three other Individuals standing beside him, and he conversed with them.
Occasionally he would glance here and there, most likely looking for his thief, who was watching him from a safe distance.
Noah decided to leave that gate and move to another one, he didn’t want to risk getting caught for stealing.
He formed an arc with his movement,, and arrived at a similarly looking bridge, but this one had red patterns drawn on it.
Ignoring the gazes he received when he got on the line, Noah queued, waiting to get inspected by the soldiers.
His turn eventually arrived, and he felt his mood darken when the three soldiers circled him and one of them came forward to speak.
“Can you follow us please? We will like to question you,” the man said, his hand gesturing at the gate, while his colleagues looked ready to pounce on him if he struggled. He didn’t have much of a choice.
Immediately faking a smile, Noah nodded his head, and walked forward.
His mind beginning to provide possible questions and their suitable responses.
The soldiers led him to the red gate, which stood at half the height of that Incredible wall, and a few other soldiers took their place in leading him.
A small portion of the gate was opened to him, and Noah found that there was a brightly lit pasaage which ended at another gate before actually stepping into the city.
This told of how hard it would be for that wall to get destroyed.
Instead of leading him through the other gate into the city, the tier 3 soldiers stopped him halfway through the passage, a black door standing in that spot.
“Please enter,” One of them gestured, and he didn’t hesitate to grab the knob, opening the door before stepping in.
Feeling a change in the density of space, Noah found himself inside a brightly lit room with exactly 11 Individuals inside it, all men.
A smile suddenly cracked on Noah’s face when he noticed a detail that told him he could potentially be in big trouble.
The heads of the individuals featured mostly black hair with shades of grey. And he stood apart by having completely white hair. This meant the peak tier 3 cultivators had noticed that feature in the mysterious Individual.
‘I guess I should have stayed away for a day or two,’ he facepalmed himself inwardly, but his smile remained.
