Chapter 196: 196. TAKE-OFF
“Strap yourselves to the chairs. The flight will be a bit bumpy,” one of the two armoured men coldly announced. The first type of emotion Noah had heard in any of their voices so far.
Doing as they were ordered, the group of 43 strapped themselves to their chosen seats, calmly waiting for whatever announcement would be made.
Picking a seat at the back of the room of sorts, Noah had decided on that spot due to the view he hoped to get.
The seats in that room totalled 60, which meant there was at least one seat separating them from each other.
With that done, the guard’s exited that room to converse with the middle-aged man. But their voices couldn’t be heard.
They eventually finished their talk, and one of the duo immediately went down the ladder, the other walking into the room to say a few words.
“You are to remain on your seats until you are given the go ahead to leave them. There are extensions in the cushions to allow you sleep. For the journey would last nothing more than three days. Four to five if you encounter trouble,” the man explained.
Seeing their affirmative gaze’s, his voice rang out once again, “I wish you a safe journey,” he said, immediately leaving afterwards.
‘Three days,’ Noah thought. ‘How far is the distance, and how slow is this beast,’ he wondered seeing the entry space into the box close off. But that event made no difference whatsoever. They could still see the outside world clearly.
Silence fell in the room at the exit of the guard, but no one seemed ready to talk, even after over 6 minutes passed.
“I’m Nathan,” someone suddenly said from beside Noah, his hand out-stretched towards him, but the distance remained too far for the interaction of their limbs.
Rasing an eyebrow in slight amusement, Noah sent his mental waves forward to Interact with the man’s.
“Good to meet you mate,” Nathan said again, his late twenties to early thirties aged face stretching with a smile.
Nathan had black hair which he combed backwards giving him a neat look. His eyes sported deep orange Irises that seemed to glow from Noah’s point of view.
Featuring a clearly defined jaw line and a sharp pointed nose, Noah affirmed that the man was definitely above average in looks.
The only detail that ruined his looks for Noah was his smile.
Although they seemed genuine, Noah could spot details that told him that he forced that smile. He most likely wanted something from Noah.
Deciding to keep his name secret, Noah replied him, while also making sure his mental voice sounded as flat as his real voice would, if he had spoken with it.
“Nice to meet you.”
“You’ve remained all by yourself since your arrival. What’s up?” Nathan enquired still keeping his smile.
“Nothing that concerns you,” Noah stated coldly.
Nathan performed a fake laugh at Noah’s icy response, but Noah could clearly sense his anger.
Straightening his position to stop facing Noah, Nathans smile slowly vanished and he didn’t glance at Noah’s side again.
Enjoying the quietness that room featured, Noah waited patiently for their departure, and his mind couldn’t help but drift to Ariana’s whereabouts.
Wondering if she was okay, even if she most likely was. Noah whiled his time away, until another announcement was made.
“One minute till take-off. Beast riders please prepare yourselves. And remember to depart in the formation in which you have been given,” the voice explained before going silent again.
Excitement inevitably rose in Noah’s, mind at those words, and he found himself counting down.
’45,’ he said Inwardly, when the entirety of the golden room suddenly experienced a violent tremble, shockwave’s of dizzing power barreling out in all directions, but blue Inscriptions promptly lit up around every single beast there, protecting them from the waves of power.
A pin sized tear suddenly opened in the space far above them, which neared the roof. Further causing more shockwaves.
The tiny tear expanded Incredibly rapidly, that event releasing a high pitched sound, that even the box couldn’t protect them from.
Noah felt his ear drums tremble madly, and he immediately clasped his plams on his ears, an instinctive reaction to the large amount of noise.
The erratic soundwaves ended as soon as the tear had expanded in every direction within that room.
A red light immediately shone on the edges of the torn space, preventing its closure.
Seeing the light of the sun-set hit his face, Noah raised his head to stare at the open sky which featured a mix of blue and orange light.
He struggled to begin to understand how much of a task that show had been, since tears in the fabric of space was something only the system had done.
‘Or is there more to this,’ Noah thought in astonishment. That sight sunk deep into his mind to inscribe itself as one of the more beautiful views Noah had ever seen.
‘It feels like a different place,’ Noah thought when suddenly the beast they sat upon arose. Its height easily crossing 40m. The middle-aged man had positioned himself on the beasts neck at this point.
“Five!…Four!….Three!…Two!…One!” Halfway through the countdown their mount unfolded its large wings before slightly crouching. Immediately that countdown ended, Noah saw the beast flap its wings, and the immense golden room around them vanished as they appeared high in the sky!
Feeling his gut experience a weird sensation at that sudden elevation Noah widened his eyes when he confirmed that their movement had successfully shattered the sound barrier.
Frantically looking backwards to see the city below them, Noah and all the others witnessed droves of flying beasts ascending behind them.
The party of hundreds of beast proceeded to circle that district multiple times, entertaining the cheering people below them.
Their rapidly moving figures soon focused on a specific direction before moving higher into the sky, and the city below them soon vanished below the clouds. Noah barely had a chance to see the three landamasses from that height, but he did, and a sense of satisfaction inevitably spread in his mind.
Straightening his position to focus on the Incredible view around him, Noah felt his ever fast heartbeat increase in speed, as excitement coursed through his whole being.
The others experienced similar emotions at that view and they soon sat back to enjoy that rapid but steady ride among the skies.
Right there and then, Noah vowed that whatever pet he would gain would have to be capable of flying.
And so the take-off ended. The journey to a location unknown to all the passangers beginning.
