Chapter 291: 291. INTERESTING
The serpents in the room dashed towards Noah’s figure, but in a more thought-out pattern. Two beasts would be sacrificed to test out the waters, while the others would gauge the entity’s strength, mostly based on how their survival instincts reacted to him.
Noah realized that two large beasts, resembling over-sized lizards were barreling towards his figure rapidly, but speed essence flowed to his mind to empower it, and a burst of sheer might exploded from his figure since his essence didn’t stop at only his mind, going on wash over his entire body with its power.
Taking but a few steps forward still wary of the wriggling tentacles around him, Noah allowed spears made out of densely packed air to manifest around his figure and shoot toward his incoming opponents.
His twenty spears shot forward but divided themselves into equal halves of ten to curve towards one of the serpents each.
What followed was an explosion that sent powerful bursts of heavy wind flying everywhere. A series of deep-yellow particles flowed towards Noah, and the systems announcements of receiving exp flashed in his eyes but he didn’t give it any attention.
He had directly killed both beasts without spending up to 300SE. This outcome was of course to be expected, Noah stood almost ten levels from the level 68 beasts, is spells seemed to have naturally increased in attack power. A detail he made a mental note to ask the system about. There were unspoken rules about the rise to power and he felt sure that it was one of them.
After the attack ended and their subordinates proved to be incapable of doing anything, the remaining ten beasts ran wild, and immediately began to send fire-based attacks. But they were all offensive techniques he had seen on the first and second floor.
Calling upon the power of his illusory battle armor, Noah turned into a bright yellow streak emitting tendrils of crackling energy. With his energy blades formed on both his arms, Noah flashed in a zig-zagged pattern between all ten serpents before his figure reappeared.
Before the ten serpents could react, their bodies fell into dissected portions, and they soon transformed into waves of yellow particles flowing into his body. But even after killing all ten, Noah didn’t gain one level. Nevertheless, he barely cared about that detail, since he had to turn into a streak to escape the vines that had tried to get to him.
Appearing at the entrance of the expanse, Noah felt his instincts ring constantly, and a deep growl similar to the first one shook the whole expanse. Noah watched the vines on the walls shoot towards the Flurry creating a wall that obstructed his view of the things going on in the background.
Noah who expected some sort of a transformation, felt his an explosion of danger reach his mind, the ground beneath him gave way to razor-sharp vines.
With widened eyes, Noah pushed his mind and body to their best, to explode into a streak of heavily crackling lightning, his figure crashed into the wall of wriggling vines, and dug through it, from which Noah unleashed his lightning storm.
The world itself seemed to pale at the activation of the skill in such a small area, but Noah didn’t care, he let chaos run unhindered in the entire expanse.
A screech-like scream reached his ears from within the river-like mass of wild lightning bolts. Noah’s lightning bolts from within his storm, crashed on his figure, sending him flying, but never managing to break through his armor. Nevertheless, the events still disoriented him.
The vines on the walls burnt at the power contained within the bolts, but many of them also vanished, and Noah felt certain that the Flurry had gone underground.
‘I won’t kill it by keeping it in its hiding place,’ Noah thought while keeping the erratic bolts from his figure. He did this by enforcing his authority over that element, but it proved difficult nonetheless.
Canceling out the skill, Noah glanced at the hole in the ground and confirmed his earlier hunch. The beast had retreated underground, and it had left a big hole for its passage.
Kneeling before the hole, Noah planned to either kill the creature inside the underground system it had built or force it out.
But before he did so, he considered calling upon the power of his lightning flakes but decided against it. Unlike his storm spell, the flake’s skill couldn’t be canceled out. He could get himself killed by trying to withstand the explosion.
Placing his palms on the edge of the hole, Noah caused ice to spread into the hole and continued to pour essence until cold mist erupted out of the opening. Reaching a particular point Noah felt something obstruct the movement of his ice, and dint hesitate to unleash ice-based attacks on it.
His spreading ice turned into spiked that stabbed into whatever it was, as many of the frozen grounds shattered to shoot towards the thing.
The ground more than 100m from Noah exploded at that point, and a screech burst out of it followed by the appearance of a mass of wriggling vines.
The mass of vines soon revealed the grotesque shape of the Flurry as it sent its vines towards him. Its aura being that of fury.
Nah needless to say, dodged the attack, but even if he clearly put the creature in a hard spot, his mind continued to ring with danger, after all, it had not utilized any spells.
What followed during the next minute was Noah dodging the creatures vine based attacks, while sending a bit of his own. His attacks always hit the target, shaving whole chunks of the monster’s vines, but they always grew back, which annoyed Noah.
The creature could regrow its lost vine-like they were nothing and continued to unleash a relentless wave of sharp vines at him.
The intensity of the Flurry’s attacks continued to drop until it completely stopped. Noah also stopped since he considered it a waste of energy to continue to attack it. He planned to kill it in one go but wanted to see what the creature could do.
However, after around one hour’s worth of fighting and really simple attacks, Noah began to doubt that his instincts even knew what it was sensing.]
Maybe it was simply its core, not its battle prowess. Noah would eventually consider. This led to the current scene. Both man and monster stared at each other. At least that was what Noah thought. The Flurry didn’t have any real facial features or even a proper face. It didn’t seem to have eyes making for Noah’s confusion.
A magical circle appeared on Noah’s hands, and a series of bright deep-yellow chains crackling with intense power and might appeared to manifest from the small circles on his hands.
Noah’s show seemed to force out the reaction he had been looking for the creature since its swirling core began to shine brighter and brighter until it covered most of the creature’s figure in its light. Noah had to wait a few seconds before it died down and before his eyes could fall on the astonishing scene before him, a panel pooped up carrying interesting information.
