Chapter 323: 323. IGNORANCE
“What was that Aiden?” Elder Sarah’s fuming voice reached Noah’s ears, while he stored the ring. A sense of annoyance reached his mind at her words. Had it not been for her intrusion he would have scored a win with Lady Delilah.
‘Annoying bitch,’ he cursed inwardly, but kept a calm face on the outside.
He proceeded to shake his head and begin his walk into the mansion while ignoring her.
“Don’t you want to hear how I vanish from the entire city again? Or do you want me to explain what making out means,” Noah bit back at her, but said those words as calmly as he could get.
Elder Sarah’s anger evaporated at that point, and she remained in one position. Stunned. A sigh escaped her mouth. In truth, she had no right to question him about his actions, when the other person involved was probably the reason for it.
Nevertheless. “Who the heck do you think you are walking away from me!” She exclaimed delivering a smashing kick on his side, launching him into the mansion.
Noah’s figure spread cracks on the already weak wall, and he spat blood after standing up, but his healing had already kicked in. He had long expected the attack and had allowed her to make the hit since he desired to appease her anger. She was still his master after all.
A few minutes had to pass before the duo could be seated while facing each other like before. However, this time around, there was a bit of tension in the air. But the duo sipped wine to calm their nerves.
Noah was still mad about the intrusion, and Elder Sarah was angry that her rash actions aimed at him would cost her huge amounts of money.
“So?… Speak. Or are you going to keep me waiting forever?” Elder Sarah eventually broke the silence.
“I’m sorting out my thoughts,” Noah responded taking another sip of the fine wine in the broken cup. The room was still in a mess as a result of the short conflict, but neither individual paid attention to it.
“This is my first time telling anybody,” Noah started, and Elder Sarah threatened to give a sarcastic comment, but held herself back seeing as he had gotten serious.
“The only reason I can… honestly I don’t know anything, I literally do not know how the god-damn thing works.” Noah continued, realizing that his words were true. Surprisingly.
“Anyways, it helps me cultivate,” he explained confusing the heck out of his audience.
“What helps you cultivate?” she asked furrowing her brows and getting annoyed by the vagueness of his words.
Noah considered telling her that he had an item that helped him cultivate. But he believed places like different dimensions were difficult to achieve. He would need to tell more of his secrets to allow the lie to be believable.
Nevertheless, he considered telling her the whole truth. But he still didn’t trust her enough.
“Can we make a pact?” Noah suggested searching for a way to keep his secret safe while still sharing it.
“What? The deal was I wouldn’t kill you if you tell me how you managed to leave the city without any trace,” she repeated in a tone that radiated her displease about the suggestion.
A realization dawned on Noah at that point. He would tell her exactly what she asked for.
“In that case, I don’t exactly know how I vanish from of the whole city without a trace,” he shrugged sipping more of his wine.
“What do you even mean by that?” she frowned deeply.
“I mean exactly what I said. The process is instant and there’s no clear explanation. At least not any that I can give. I would have to possess knowledge about teleportation to even explain, but I don’t know jack about that subject,” Noah explained. He was telling the blatant truth without having to tell other secrets.
“Teleportation?” Elder Sarah asked getting even more confused.
“Yes teleportation,” Noah replied when a bright multicolored light enveloped his figure after which he disappeared from his seat. Elder Sarah abruptly stood; alerted. However, only a few seconds passed them she heard the sound of door locks clicking and Noah appeared to walk out of his assigned room to stare at her from the balcony.
“Teleportation,” Noah repeated jumping down, before taking his seat and chugging down the remaining wine in his cup.
“Take your seat master. It’s not that spectacular,” Noah said to a still wary Sarah. Shaking his head when he saw her reluctance to sit, he took the bottle of wine on the table before them and poured himself a bit.
‘Bread would do with this wine,’ he thought checking his inventory for any bread. Finding some, he broke it and dipped it inside the wine before placing it in his mouth and chewing.
The delicious flavor of the wine mixed with the bread’s taste created something surprisingly sweet In his mouth.
“That’s that.” Noah eventually broke the silence. “I’ve told you what you asked of me.”
Elder Sarah heaved a deep sigh at that point, before glaring at him as he poured himself more wine. She liked the drink herself, and although she had crates of it within her ring, she didn’t like to waste them.
A smile broke on Noah’s face when he saw her sit and pour wine for herself.
“There has to be more information. Is it an ability or something that you gained from an item, and how does it let you cultivate?” She poured out her thoughts, but Noah shook his head.
“That wasn’t part of the agreement. You told me to tell you how I vanish, and my answer is I don’t know. I only have some control over when it happens.” He rejected her questions.
Complaints tried to escape Elder Sarah’s lips, but she stopped them. He was right. Annoyingly. She had not been specific enough about her question, and truth be told she had never expected that he would not know anything about an ability he utilized very often. That question was supposed to be foolproof. Unfortunately, it failed in front of ignorance.
‘Ignorance truly is bliss,’ she sighed inwardly.
Moreover, she knew a little about his character, and from the looks of things he wasn’t lying. He had kept his side of the deal, even if it wasn’t satisfactory enough for her needs.
With a nervous smile, Elder Sarah opened her mouth to speak after a few seconds of thoughtful silence. “So… about the pact, are you still up for it?”
