Lin Fan knitted his brows when he heard this, but that was just the beginning since there was something else that happened.
He was about to pull back from the wall of flies that was in front of him, but he suddenly froze.
That was because there was something that suddenly came from inside of him.
He didn’t know what this was at first, but it was intense enough that it froze him from the inside out. He found that there was this strange energy that seemed to be locking him in place.
It was almost as if this strange energy was trying to take him over.
When he followed that strange energy with his spiritual sense, he found that the source of it was coming from his back. With his spiritual energy, he was able to see that it was a few flies that were attached to his back that he hadn’t noticed.
These were tiny flies that had escaped his perception with some kind of strange energy wrapping around them. They had made their way to his back and had landed on him to act as a conduit for some kind of power.
The flies were used as waypoints that allowed the power to flow from them into him.
That was why he had been frozen all of a sudden like this.
As for how flies were being used as this…
The demon of the statue was Beelzebub, who was known as the Lord of Flies, it was only natural that he would be able to use flies in such a way.
Though it really was strange for Lin Fan since he had never seen this kind of power before.
After seeing him freeze all of a sudden like this, the remaining demonic cultivators all looked at him with wary looks on their faces as if they were worried that he would suddenly start moving again.
But once they were certain that he wouldn’t move, they suddenly stepped forward and raised their weapons as if they were about to attack him.
It seemed that it was only when he couldn’t move and show the terrifying power that he owned that they were courageous enough to actually do something. It seemed that they were cowards that would only fight when their lives weren’t on the line.
Only, the Lord of Flies didn’t need help from these weaklings in the first place.
“Stand back.” That was the simple order that the Lord of Flies gave the demonic cultivators when they were about to attack Lin Fan.
They were shocked to hear that their lord was protecting Lin Fan, but they soon realized that this wasn’t the case. That was because there was this demonic energy that started coming from Lin Fan.
This demonic energy was actually stronger than the one that they possessed.
This demonic energy seemed to be the demonic energy of the lord that they worshipped.
It was energy that they could only feel if they ever provided something satisfactory to the Lord of Flies.
The strange thing was that the energy was coming right from Lin Fan.
It didn’t take them long to realize what was happening.
The Lord of Flies wanted this person as his follower because of his abilities, but since this person refused, the Lord of Flies could only use a more forceful method. That meant that he was using the method that all demons used.
He would be using his demonic energy to corrupt and control this person.
Once he had control over this person with his demonic energy, then there would be nothing that this person could do.
After all, the demonic energy would corrode their mind and turn them into a puppet for their lord. So all that this person could do at this point was mindlessly follow the orders of their lord.
At that point, he would be nothing more than a puppet on strings and the one controlling him would be the Lord of Flies.
There were complicated looks that appeared on the faces of these demonic cultivators, but there was nothing that they could do about this. Even if they didn’t want to see Lin Fan being turned into a puppet and taking their place at the lord’s side, this was not something that they could decide.
It was all in the hands of the lord that controlled the flies that were corrupting Lin Fan.
All they could do was comfort themselves by thinking about how the terrifying power that Lin Fan showed would be on their side in the future.
“We’ll guard the perimeter.” One of the elders suddenly said before waving at the others to follow him.
The demon of the statue didn’t even bother responding when he heard them say this. To the Lord of Flies, these demonic cultivators were nothing more than disposable tools, so he didn’t care about what they did.
The only thing that he cared about now was taking Lin Fan over and using him as a puppet.
The demonic cultivators quickly spread themselves out and created a perimeter around this area while peeking back at Lin Fan to see how the process was going.
The demonic energy that was around Lin Fan seemed to be getting stronger and stronger, making it seem like it was only a matter of time before he lost complete control of his body.
It seemed like he was about to lose his will, though the look on his face made it seem like he was fighting back.
Lin Fan’s brows were knitted and his face was scrunched up as if he was trying to use all his might to resist the power of the Lord of Flies. It was just that it didn’t seem to have any effect with the way that the demonic energy around him grew.
Finally, the demon of the statue said while laughing, “Ha, ha, ha, it seems like you’re about to fall to my influence. There’s no point in trying to fight against me, you should just accept my power and come to my…”
The voice suddenly trailed off before the same voice said in a shocked tone, “What is happening?”
The demonic cultivators were all shocked when they heard this since in their eyes, it didn’t seem like anything was going wrong. They could still feel the powerful demonic energy that was coming from Lin Fan, showing that he was about to be corrupted by their lord.
But the tone of the lord’s voice was anything but normal.
They wanted to move back to help the Lord of Flies, but then they realized that there was nothing for them to do. If they were to go back, they might just get in his way instead of helping him.
So the only thing that these demonic cultivators did was keep up their guard and waited to see what happened to Lin Fan.
The Lord of Flies also didn’t care about them as he fell silent for a bit, but then he said, “How are you doing this?”
The demonic cultivators were even more confused when they heard this, but they could tell that something was happening.
They looked at Lin Fan to see that there was a curve that slowly appeared on his lips.
His knitted brows relaxed and he now had a smile as if he had discovered something helpful.
That was only what Lin Fan was showing on the surface, but deep down…
He actually let out a secret sigh of relief.
During this time, he hadn’t been able to resist the demonic energy that the Lord of Flies had injected into him. The way that the energy completely dominated him made him remember the power of the gods that he had encountered before.
It seemed that once a demon reached a certain point, they would have power that was comparable to a god.
Though that wasn’t strange since the demons would have long been wiped out if that wasn’t the case.
If they didn’t have anything to rely on to fight against the gods, then the gods certainly would have destroyed them all already. It was only by having power comparable to the gods that the demons would be able to keep themselves safe.
The only reason that Lin Fan was able to resist this power was because of the connection to the Pet Storage Space.
At first, the connection to the Pet Storage Space didn’t seem like it was about to do anything.
But then all of a sudden, it started gathering the demonic energy that the Lord of Flies had injected into him which stopped it from influencing him. At the same time, it gathered the energy in front of the connection to the Pet Storage Space.
Only this time, it didn’t seem like it was using the life energy to make it stronger.
It almost seemed like it was just gathering it in front of it to prevent the energy from affecting him.
This energy was condensed into a single point and removed from his body, which was most likely what the Lord of Flies was feeling.
However, Lin Fan still didn’t move because the energy wasn’t dispelled yet.
The energy was just there in front of the connection to the Pet Storage Space and he had no idea what was about to happen with it.
That was until he felt it suddenly being released back into his body.
Only, it wasn’t a problem that it was being released back into his body.
The way that the connection to the Pet Storage Space released the energy made it spread to every part of his body, but it was almost as if the energy had been subdued and made into his own.
