After starting the upgrade for the system, Lin Fan didn’t do anything else with the two remaining fragments.
There was the option of giving one of the fragments to the Dungeon Master System and seeing if it would upgrade as well, but he didn’t take the risk in the end.
Compared to upgrading the Dungeon Master System, Rokuko and Xiao Bai were more important to him.
If he really was to upgrade it, he would go looking for Weiss first and confirming if he could upgrade it with these fragments. At the same time, he would also confirm whether it would have any side effects on them since the origin of these fragments was demonic.
Before Lin Fan made sure of this, he wasn’t willing to risk either Rokuko or Xiao Bai with these fragments.
He would rather risk himself since he was certain that his system would be able to take it.
His system was something that he received from the God of Earth as compensation, so he didn’t believe that it would be a weak system. It was something that was created by the divine powers of a god, so it should be able to resist the demonic energy.
His greatest confidence in this came from the fact that the connection to the Pet Storage Space had been able to control the powers of the Lord of Flies.
If it wasn’t for that, Lin Fan might not be standing here right now.
So he was almost certain that his system wouldn’t be affected by the demonic powers of this fragment.
After coming out of the dungeon, Lin Fan found that there was quite the commotion in Dungeon City.
That was because the people who had gone to participate in the Demon Slaying Conference were back. It was just that it wasn’t the Love Sect alone that came back, it was also the representatives from all the different sects.
Even if the groups of representatives were small, that didn’t mean that there were few of them since there were many different sects that were being represented. There were all those different small sects that were scattered throughout the large lands that the Mu Empire ruled over, so there were many different groups that were here.
With all of these groups here, the entire city seemed almost filled up.
There were more facilities that had been built to welcome guests and such in the city, but it didn’t matter since there were just too many of them.
So in the end, it seemed that they had to make do with some less than comfortable arrangements.
However, Lin Fan wasn’t left alone when he came out, he was immediately grabbed and brought to where Mu Bao Bao was waiting for him.
That was because he was related to what was happening in Dungeon City.
He was the sect master of the Love Sect that had led the members of the various sects into battle against the demonic sects, so he could be considered one of the leaders in this operation.
It was only natural that Lin Fan would be brought to this ceremony that was to celebrate the success of this Demon Slaying Conference.
When he walked into the hall, all of the leaders from the sects turned to look at Lin Fan.
There were many different looks that were cast in his direction, but he ignored all of them as he looked at Mu Bao Bao who was on the throne.
She looked completely different than she normally looked in front of him. Right now, she had the full prestige of an empress as she sat on this throne.
This was a different version of her that was rarely seen by me, but it didn’t mean that I didn’t like seeing this version of her. It was definitely a breath of fresh air and something that was interesting to see.
When she looked at him, Mu Bao Bao suddenly revealed a smile before waving her hand at him
With the way that she waved her hand at Lin Fan, it was as if she was calling him over.
There was a bitter smile that appeared on Lin Fan’s face, but he still listened to her and went over to her throne.
He found that there was another seat that was set up right beside her throne.
This was a seat that wasn’t as big as her throne, but it was still considered a throne in its own right. At the same time, it was placed right beside Mu Bao Bao’s own throne.
There was just no missing the meaning behind it.
It was clear that she was trying to show everyone the relationship between them, showing that they were close. No, it was better to say that she was showing everyone that they were beyond close, they had a very special relationship.
With this bitter smile on his face, Lin Fan walked through the crowd and past all of the ministers that were gathered. He could see the way that the ministers were looking at him, but he didn’t react at all to them as he just walked right past them.
After making his way forward, Lin Fan sat down on the smaller throne beside Mu Bao Bao’s own throne.
The way that she looked at him was almost as if she was teasing him. It was as if she was saying that this was her way of getting revenge on him for what he had done in the past.
Lin Fan didn’t show any expressions on his face as he looked out in front of him at all of the leaders from the sects that were gathered.
He could see the way that they looked at him.
The general gist of their expressions was that they were trying to scope him out, they were trying to see just what kind of person he was.
So he just calmly looked back at them, not showing any emotions.
Once Lin Fan was seated, Mu Bao Bao gave a nod to one of the ministers on the side. When that minister saw this, he came forward and unfurled a scroll as if he was giving a decree.
“Gathered here are all those that have contributed to the pacification of the demonic sects gathering in Dragon Beard Valley. Together, we have destroyed six demonic sects that had been hiding in our Mu Empire, which is considered a roaring success.”
At this, the ministers that were sitting there all suddenly raised a hand and cheered.
The way that they moved was almost as if they had already rehearsed this.
Them suddenly doing something like this caught the leaders of the various sects off guard, but they quickly followed the example of the ministers and started cheering as well even though they didn’t seem as enthusiastic.
It seemed that they were just being forced to go along with this.
After the cheers, the speaker continued by saying, “For those that have contributed to the pacification of the demonic sects, they will receive a reward from our Mu Empire for their efforts on behalf of the people of the Mu Empire.”
This was when the eyes of those from the various sects lit up since this was what they were waiting for.
It could be said that the main reason that they had participated in the Demon Slaying Conference in the first place was because of the reward that the Mu Empire was offering.
They were small sects that didn’t have many resources, so of course they would look forward to the resources that the Mu Empire gave them. It was their hope for developing their sects in the future.
But before any of their rewards were announced, there was one thing that the speaker announced first.
“The one sect that contributed the most during this Demon Slaying Conference is the Love Sect. As such, they will receive the greatest reward from the Mu Empire.” After saying this, the speaker looked at the leaders of the various sects as if daring them to say something.
But there was no one that said a thing since they had all seen the power of the Love Sect during the battle with the demonic cultivators.
They knew just how powerful the Love Sect was, which made them a bit fearful of the Love Sect.
Especially since they had seen the aftermath of what happened in the center of Dragon Beard Valley.
They didn’t see the battle itself, but the fact that there were the corpses of four sect leaders and many of the elders, that was more than enough to show just what had happened there.
They knew that the Love Sect were the ones that had been in charge of taking care of that place, so they could tell how terrifying the Love Sect was. They didn’t have any complaints about the Love Sect taking first place in this Demon Slaying Conference.
But it wasn’t over yet.
As the speaker was about to say something else, Mu Bao Bao raised her hand and cleared her throat.
Hearing this, the speaker immediately fell to one knee and bowed his head as if he was waiting for an order.
The others saw this and followed suit.
Lin Fan was about to stand up and do the same thing, but he found that Mu Bao Bao’s hand was on his to stop him.
After they all kneeled, she said, “In addition to this, Sect Master Lin will be given a special reward for his accomplishments. In recognition of all his hard work, he will receive the title of duke and the epitaph of Pacifying General.”
