There was a tired look on Lin Fan’s face when he came out of the bedroom in the morning.
That was because he practically got no sleep last night.
Since he had decided to show them his care, it naturally resulted in a battle in the bedroom. This wasn’t a battle that he fought with just a single person, this was a battle that he fought with multiple people.
Even with his enhanced physique and increased cultivation, he couldn’t help being exhausted by the girls.
Part of it was because of how pent up they were and the other part was because of their increased cultivation as well. Since they were stronger, it was only natural that they would have more stamina as well.
So that was why Lin Fan was exhausted when morning came.
But there was also a faint smile that was on his face when he came out of the bedroom since he could feel the love that the girls had for him during last night’s battle. It was more than enough to put him in a very good mood.
After coming out, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a bit lost since there was nothing for him to do today.
Normally he would take care of things with the Love Sect or the dungeon, but there was nothing to do on either side.
The Love Sect was now just regrouping after the Demon Slaying Conference and it would take some time before anything happened there. If Lin Fan went to help, he was certain that all he would do is get in the way of the elders.
So he couldn’t just go to the Love Sect.
As for the dungeon, there was nothing that he could do there right now because Rokuko and Xiao Bai were both missing.
It wasn’t that they were missing missing, it was just that they were temporarily being hidden away by Haku while the Star Tower group was still in Dungeon City.
There was no telling what would happen if they came back, but it wasn’t hard to guess.
They had chased after them right after coming to Dungeon City and had only given up after finding the fake dungeon core weapon. It was just that was also when Rokuko and Xiao Bai left Dungeon City for that isolated space.
Lin Fan had seen the powers of the Star Tower group and he had to admit that they were useful. If they were to use it again, it was almost certain that they would find something else in the dungeon.
So he couldn’t bring the two of them back yet until he figured out what to do with the Star Tower group.
Since both his options were eliminated, there was nothing else for him to do.
“Miss City Lord, there’s a problem!”
There was someone that charged into the living room of the City Lord’s Manor.
This was a woman who seemed to be quite beautiful that Lin Fan recognized.
She was Cai Ying, one of the aides that Yue Lan trained up, who worked with her and Ming Xin. It could be said that she was one of the people that Yue Lan trusted the most since she was the one that trained her up.
As for why Cai Ying had said Miss City Lord, that was because she was referring to Yue Lan.
Even though Yue Lan was only the vice city lord in name, she was the one that actually took care of the city lord’s work in Lin Fan’s place.
That was why most people were just used to calling her the city lord rather than calling Lin Fan the city lord.
When Cai Ying saw Lin Fan, she couldn’t help being surprised since she wasn’t used to seeing Lin Fan around.
Lin Fan just waved his hand with a smile that showed that he didn’t mind before saying, “It’s fine.”
Cai Ying still had an awkward look on her face, but she didn’t dwell on it since she saw Yue Lan coming out with Ming Xin. The two of them had just finished getting dressed when they heard what Cai Ying said.
Cai Ying couldn’t help feeling a slight chill run down her spine when she saw the way that Yue Lan was looking at her, but she still pushed it back to say, “Miss Vice City Lord, there’s a problem. There’s someone who is calling himself the messenger of the Duanmu Family and is looking for Miss Duanmu.”
It wasn’t just Yue Lan who knitted her brows when she heard this, Lin Fan who also heard this couldn’t help knitting his brows.
After all, he had never expected the Duanmu Family to suddenly show up like this.
Lin Fan already knew that Duanmu Ming Xue’s background wasn’t simple since she had such a beautiful appearance, but she was a widow in the middle of nowhere. Something must have happened in her past for her to appear in a place like this.
Now that a messenger claiming to be from the Duanmu Family had appeared, it seemed that whatever it was that had been in her past had finally caught up to her.
Duanmu Ming Xue was a bit stronger after following Lin Fan, but Lin Fan didn’t think that she would be strong enough to face her former family.
After looking at each other for a bit, Lin Fan went back into the bedroom and brought Duanmu Ming Xue out. He made sure to have Xiao Yue and Lala take Duanmu Yi away since he didn’t want to get her involved in this.
After Duanmu Ming Xue heard the news, she knitted her brows as well before asking, “Did he say who he was?”
Cai Ying thought about it before saying, “I think that he said his name was Duanmu Tian Jue.”
At this, Duanmu Ming Xue immediately knitted her brows even more.
Anyone that saw this would have figured it out.
It was clear that Duanmu Ming Xue knew who this person was just based on their name.
But Lin Fan waited to see what she would have to say.
There were different emotions that appeared on Duanmu Ming Xue’s face as if she was going through different emotions at this time, but eventually she said with a sigh, “That’s my third uncle.”
Lin Fan gave a simple nod, but he didn’t say anything as he waited to see what else Duanmu Ming Xue had to say.
After all, just this alone was far from being enough information to understand what the situation was.
Duanmu Ming Xue paused for a bit before continuing, “As you could guess already, there’s a family that I ran away from. They married me off to a terrible person and after Xiao Yi was born, I couldn’t take it anymore and ran away. That’s why I was all alone with her when you found me. Of course, they wouldn’t just leave me alone since the person that I ran away from was an important ally to the family.”
Lin Fan nodded to show that he understood.
This was a very common plot in the novels that he read before, so he could understand the picture that she was painting. Of course, there was still a trace of worry in his eyes since he still didn’t know anything about the Duanmu Family.
Duanmu Ming Xue was silent for a bit before saying with a sigh, “The Duanmu Family is one of the large families of the Han Kingdom.”
Lin Fan turned to look at Yue Lan who just turned to look at Cai Ying.
Cai Ying seemed prepared as she took out a piece of paper and gave a summary.
Duanmu Ming Xue’s uncle Duanmu Tian Jue had actually already reported their entire Duanmu Family’s status since he wanted to use that to his advantage. He wanted to use the Duanmu Family’s status to pressure them to take out Duanmu Ming Xue and hand her over.
But that just allowed Cai Ying to easily find out everything about the Duanmu Family.
Lin Fan was even a bit surprised by how thorough this was.
It turned out that the Royal Style Store had spread much further than he thought.
It had gone to the surrounding countries to form branches, which was why they were able to collect information that easily.
That included the Han Kingdom that the Duanmu Family was from.
As the name suggested, the Han Kingdom wasn’t at the same level as the Mu Empire.
The Han Kingdom was a small country that was near Mu Empire’s borders, but they didn’t actually share a border. The Han Kingdom was still larger than some of the other smaller countries, so they did have some power.
Though compared to the Mu Empire, they still couldn’t compare.
It was a kingdom that relied on the backing of another empire to keep themselves safe.
Behind that empire was a sect that was under one of the Five Great Sects.
So in the end, it was still related back to the Five Great Sects.
There was nothing that could escape the grasps of the Five Great Sects in the end.
That was just how it was in this cultivation world controlled by those Five Great Sects.
As for the Duanmu Family, they were one of the founding families of the Han Kingdom.
