That one punch reminded Duanmu Tian Jue just what kind of situation he was in.
That one punch made him understand that there was nothing that he could do in this situation other than comply.
As for finding a way out, that would come later.
There had to be a reason why this person was asking all of these questions, so he would have to play along for now until he could find a way to save himself.
Duanmu Tian Jue had completely awakened from his drunkenness, all because of the punches and kicks that had landed on him. He was now focused on one thing and one thing only.
It was to find a way to survive this.
He just silently waited to see what questions Lin Fan had for him.
Lin Fan could also see the change that came over Duanmu Tian Jue, so he calmly looked at him and said, “What is the Duanmu Family planning?”
An awkward look appeared on Duanmu Tian Jue’s face when he heard this.
It wasn’t that he wasn’t willing to answer this question, it was more that it was such a general question that he really didn’t know how to answer it. This question covered too many things that it was hard for him to give an answer, let alone give an answer that would satisfy this person.
Duanmu Tian Jue could already see the fist that was raised.
It was clear that if he were to give an answer that Lin Fan wasn’t satisfied with, the fist would fall down on him.
So the only thing that Duanmu Tian Jue could do was try to think of an answer that would get him out of this situation.
In the end, he couldn’t think of anything, so the only thing that he could ask was, “Could you please be more specific about what you mean by that? I don’t know what you’re looking for.”
He didn’t dare take the risk of giving a random answer, so he could only take the risk of asking for clarification.
It turned out that was the right move as Lin Fan didn’t hit him.
Instead, Lin Fan asked, “What are you doing looking for Duanmu Ming Xue after all this time?”
Duanmu Tian Jue was surprised to hear this.
Even though he already suspected that this matter was related to Duanmu Ming Xue, he wasn’t certain that it was related to her. Only when this person confirmed it for him, there was no denying that this matter was indeed related to her.
The information that the Duanmu Family had only said that Duanmu Ming Xue was hiding in this Dungeon City, working as a chef in the most popular hotel. It didn’t say anything about anyone being connected to her in a special way.
So why did things suddenly change like this?
Not to mention, that Duanmu Ming Xue had that child with her, so it wasn’t as if she was someone that men should desire. The burden that came with a child far outweighed the beauty that she possessed, so no men would want to dedicate themselves to her.
After giving a gulp, Duanmu Tian Jue decided to answer honestly, “The Bei Family has asked for Duanmu Ming Xue back. They didn’t say anything when she ran away, but now they’re asking for her back. We don’t have any idea what it is, but they offered us conditions that we couldn’t refuse.”
Lin Fan knitted his brows when he heard this.
He never thought that it would be the Duanmu Family being used as an errand boy.
He thought that they would at least have some idea of why Duanmu Ming Xue was being chased after, but it seemed that this Duanmu Tian Jue didn’t seem to know anything.
“No, it could just be that his status is too low in the Duanmu Family that he doesn’t actually know anything.” Lin Fan suddenly thought to himself.
If he was sent here to take Duanmu Ming Xue back, then he was being treated as an errand boy by the Duanmu Family. So it wasn’t strange if Duanmu Tian Jue didn’t actually know anything about the real circumstances of this situation.
But that was a problem since that meant that he didn’t actually know what the Duanmu Family wanted.
If he didn’t know what the Duanmu Family wanted, it was a bit hard to plan things out.
After a moment of silence that made Duanmu Tian Jue feel anxious, Lin Fan finally asked, “What has happened to the Bei Family recently?”
Duanmu Tian Jue was once again caught off guard by this question since this wasn’t a question that he expected to hear.
He opened and closed his mouth a bit as if he was having trouble coming up with an answer.
Eventually, Duanmu Tian Jue honestly replied, “I don’t know.”
Lin Fan knitted his brows and raised his fist when he heard this.
Duanmu Tian Jue saw this, but there was a bitter smile that appeared on his face as he didn’t say anything.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to say something, it was just that he really didn’t have anything to say.
Duanmu Tian Jue could be considered a prodigal, it was clear by the way that he acted as soon as he arrived in Dungeon City.
He was someone who wasn’t considered that high up in the Duanmu Family and was only sent on small tasks like this. Most of the time, he would be out having fun with the money of the Duanmu Family.
Someone like him naturally wasn’t qualified to know anything important.
He was someone whose only use was running small tasks.
Lin Fan narrowed his eyes to look at Duanmu Tian Jue and seeing that his expression didn’t change, it didn’t seem like he would be able to get anything out of this Duanmu Tian Jue.
It seemed like he really was just nothing more than a disposable errand boy.
In that case, there was no reason to keep stalling things and trying to get non-existent information from him.
Instead, it was better to finish taking care of him and planning what to do next.
Lin Fan turned away from Duanmu Tian Jue which allowed him to let out a sigh of relief.
After turning away, he walked over to the door and opened it to reveal someone standing there behind it.
The moment that Duanmu Tian Jue saw this person, his face lit up. That was because he recognized this person the moment that he saw her, there was no mistaking it since he was very familiar with her because she was the one that he was after.
It was Duanmu Ming Xue who was standing there.
The expression on Duanmu Tian Jue’s face relaxed a bit when he saw her since he figured that Lin Fan was finally following orders.
As long as he could take Duanmu Ming Xue away from this place, that was all that mattered.
So Duanmu Tian Jue was about to stand up, but he couldn’t as he felt a pressure fall on him. This pressure completely suppressed him and pushed him into the ground, it was the kind of pressure that made him unable to move a single inch.
This was different from the normal pressure that one would face when meeting a powerful cultivator, this was the power of gravity that pinned him into the ground.
Normal pressure from a powerful cultivator would just force them to the ground, but this gravity was pushing him into the ground in a specific manner. It was pushing him onto the ground with his hands down and his knees bent, forcing him into a submission pose in front of Duanmu Ming Xue.
Duanmu Tian Jue felt his pride being shattered when he was being forced into this pose, it was just that he wasn’t able to do a single thing against this pressure. No matter how he tried to fight it, he just couldn’t move a single muscle.
It was so strong that he wasn’t even able to say a single thing.
All he could do was look at the ground with a frustrated look and a worried feeling.
After all, there was no telling what would happen next.
“You can do whatever you want with him.”
The one that said this was Lin Fan, which told him that he was the one that was responsible for this pressure that had fallen on him. At the same time, it told him that Lin Fan clearly had a close relationship with Duanmu Ming Xue, or else he wouldn’t do something like this for her.
It seemed that the intelligence that the Duanmu Family had was completely wrong.
It seemed that there was someone backing Duanmu Ming Xue all along.
Duanmu Ming Xue looked up at Lin Fan with a touched look before moving forward to stand in front of Duanmu Tian Jue.
As she looked down at him, the look in her eyes made it clear that she was remembering the things that had happened between them in the past. It seemed that this Duanmu Tian Jue had done quite a bit with the way her expression changed.
But in the end, she just raised her foot and stomped down on his head to knock him out.
“That’s all that I need.” She said without even looking back at Duanmu Tian Jue.
Lin Fan looked at her with a surprised look at first, but then he slowly gave a nod and left the room.
A minute later, someone came to take Duanmu Tian Jue away.
It wasn’t as if he could be allowed to go back to the Duanmu Family.
