With the speed of Igneel, it took only two days to reach the borders of the Han Kingdom.
This was the fourth country that Lin Fan had traveled to and he was still amazed by the speed of travel in this cultivation world.
The speed that Igneel traveled at was comparable to some of the commercial jet planes. That was just how fast travel was when it came to the speed of cultivators.
Especially when it came to a beast that had a special bloodline like Igneel.
He was just much faster than any other spirit beasts that were at the same level, so he really wasn’t a good comparison.
After arriving at the border, they went down to pass into the Han Empire. It wasn’t as if they could just fly through the border on the back of Igneel, that would send the wrong message.
What they were doing wasn’t illegal in the first place, so they could easily pass into the Han Empire.
Though the main reason that Lin Fan chose to do this was because of something else.
He wanted to see if he could make contact with the Han Kingdom’s royal family.
The three founding families were trying to take over the Han Kingdom for themselves, so it was only natural that their enemy would be the royal family. And since the ones that they were facing were two of the three founding families, it was only natural that they would look to the royal family.
An enemy of an enemy was a friend.
In the Han Kingdom where they had no roots at all, it was better to make friends when possible.
Using a local force was naturally the best option since they had been established in the country for a long time and there was no better local force than the royal family. They were the strongest local force in the Han Kingdom, so there was no better choice.
As for how it was done.
“You are a delegation from the Mu Empire?” The voice of the guard that was at the gate was filled with shock when he said this.
After all, he never expected something like this to happen on the day that he was on duty.
The guards at the border were swapped out on a daily basis since it was a tedious job, so it was almost considered a chore that one had to do. But it was supposed to be a boring job, which was why no one considered it a punishment.
But now…this guard couldn’t help feeling that it was a punishment.
For something like this to happen when he was on duty, there was no doubt that he would be pulled into this matter.
Still, it wasn’t as if he could just leave this matter be.
“Please wait a minute as I report this to the captain and send this information to the capital.” The guard said in a professional voice.
Since he was going to be caught up in this matter, he might as well do the best that he could.
In a way, this could also be considered an opportunity.
A delegate from the Mu Empire, a country that was stronger than his would be considered a high level person. If he were to leave a good impression on this person and they were to mention him to his superiors, it was a good way to earn a promotion.
On the contrary, if he were to leave any kind of bad impression…
In short, it all depended on how he acted.
Lin Fan wasn’t surprised to hear this, so he just gave a nod and waved his hand as if he was dismissing the guard.
The guard didn’t show any signs of displeasure at being treated like this, he just simply turned around and ran off to report this matter.
Half an hour later, there was a group of soldiers that suddenly came over.
Even though they were fully armed, Lin Fan didn’t seem worried at all seeing them.
That was because he knew that they didn’t have any ill intentions.
When they came over, the leader of this group even bowed their head to Lin Fan before saying, “Sir envoy, please come with me. We’ve prepared a carriage that will bring you to the capital to meet the royal family.”
Lin Fan didn’t doubt this person since he could already see how everyone around had been diverted away.
With a simple nod, he said, “Lead the way.”
The guards quickly spread out, but it wasn’t to harm him.
Rather, they spread out in a way so that Lin Fan was in the center of their formation. They were spread out in a way where they would be able to protect him if anything happened.
Even though they were soldiers of the Han Kingdom, they had suddenly become his escorts.
They brought him over to a carriage that had been waiting there for him, only this wasn’t a normal carriage that they led him to. This was a carriage that had spirit beasts pulling it, which showed that it was the best of the best.
It seemed that the Han Kingdom placed quite the importance on their relationship with the Mu Empire.
Though that wasn’t strange with the power that the Mu Empire wielded in the surrounding area.
The Mu Empire was not a small power in this area, it was a local giant that could rule over a very large area. So naturally the Han Kingdom just couldn’t ignore this power and had to treat them kindly.
As for whether this mission was a lie or not…
It actually wasn’t since the Mu Empire had been planning on establishing relationships with the surrounding countries.
The Mu Empire had broken off from the control of the Five Great Sects, or rather the four righteous sects, so they were currently in a dangerous situation. The only way for them to get out of this was to build up their power as much as they could.
Using the surrounding countries was an option, it was just that they hadn’t found the right candidate to send to these countries.
Now that Lin Fan had volunteered, the ministers actually jumped at the chance to send him to the Han Kingdom.
First, it would keep him away from Mu Bao Bao, so she would do less spontaneous and dangerous things. When the two of them were together, it caused a headache for the ministers.
Second, his status as Mu Bao Bao’s husband was something that was already confirmed and widespread. Including his status as the sect master of the Love Sect, the other countries would have to give him face.
That made Lin Fan the perfect envoy to send to the surrounding countries.
For now, the Han Kingdom was the first country that he went to.
In return for the Mu Empire’s ministers supporting him, he would have to go to the other countries as well, but that was after the matter with the Duanmu and Bei Families was settled.
As he moved along the main road of the Han Kingdom, Lin Fan was able to notice a few things about this place.
First, this place couldn’t compare to the Mu Empire.
It wasn’t that the cities couldn’t compare, it was that the spiritual energy that was in the air couldn’t compare. It seemed that the reason for the development of certain countries was all because of the spiritual energy concentration in the areas that the countries were in.
The more concentrated the spiritual energy, the stronger the cultivators were in that country.
As such, the Han Kingdom couldn’t compare to the Mu Empire in terms of experts.
Second, Lin Fan could see that there were far fewer cultivators that were in the Han Kingdom.
With his cultivation in the Golden Core Realm, it was easy for him to see if people were cultivators.
When he made his way through cities in the Mu Empire, he could see just how many cultivators were in said city. It was easy for him to see just how many cultivators were in the Mu Empire in general.
In the Han Kingdom, there wasn’t even half that amount.
That just went to show the difference in power between the two countries.
One was an empire and one was a kingdom, so it should be normal that they couldn’t compare to each other.
After realizing this, Lin Fan just relaxed and took in the views of the Han Kingdom.
As he watched the people passing by, he felt that the Han Kingdom did have its similarities to the Mu Empire.
It was that all the people were just trying to survive in their own way, whether they were mortals or cultivators.
There was a part of him that felt bad about the mess that he was about to cause the Han Kingdom by confronting the Duanmu and Bei Families, but there was nothing that could be done.
This was something that had to be done or else Duanmu Ming Xue would never be free of them.
As night fell, the captain of the guard that came along to escort them came over to say, “Sir envoy, this is one of the provincial capitals of our Han Kingdom. We will be resting here tonight before making our way to the royal capital tomorrow. We have already prepared the finest quarters for you to rest in.”
As he said this, there was a trace of worry in his voice as if he was worried that Lin Fan would be angry with this.
But Lin Fan just said with a simple nod, “Alright.”
