All three of the representatives from the founding families were shocked by this pressure.
That was because they could tell that this wasn’t the pressure that came from a cultivator with a higher level of cultivation using their auras to suppress them. They could tell that this was a completely different kind of power that was suppressing them.
It was a kind of power that almost seemed natural, as if it was part of the world.
“The law of gravity.” The one from the Duanmu Family suddenly said in a shocked voice.
When the other two heard this, they also had shocked looks in their eyes.
It was almost as if they couldn’t believe what the one from the Duanmu Family said.
After all, the power of gravity was considered a high grade law, one that wouldn’t be easily obtained or mastered. So they couldn’t believe that this person in front of them would be able to use the law of gravity that easily.
Though this surprise didn’t last long.
Since they had been sent here by the three founding families, naturally the three of them were elites that could control themselves. They knew that if they lost control of their emotions in this situation, it would be a one way ticket to the realm of the dead.
So even if they were shocked by all of this, they had to keep calm and find a way out of this.
Only…what could they do when they were suppressed like this?
It seemed like they really had no other choice but to give up on their original mission and try to find a way to escape this place.
“Sir envoy, there’s no grudge between our three families and you, is there really a need to go this far?” The one from the Duanmu Family said this, to which the other two nodded in agreement.
“Then what about that killing intent that you just showed?” Lin Fan asked in a casual voice.
There was a pause that came from the three of them, but then the one from the Duanmu Family said, “There is some kind of misunderstanding, of course we would never show any killing intent towards sir envoy.”
Then after another pause, he added, “Of course, if we’ve offended sir envoy in some way, we will be sure to properly compensate sir envoy.”
Once again, the other two nodded in agreement to this.
It wasn’t him admitting that they had been wrong, but he was still willing to pay to get out of this situation. It was this kind of shamelessness that really made him and the other two suited for this kind of work.
But it wasn’t as if Lin Fan would just accept this since he also had other intentions.
He wasn’t planning on letting any of these three go since there was nothing to gain from letting them go.
He was planning to bury them all here.
It was just that before that, there was something else that he had to do.
He needed information from them after all.
“There’s no grudge between us? I don’t think so.” Lin Fan said with almost a teasing tone to his voice.
There were surprised and confused looks that appeared in the eyes of all three of them since they had no idea what Lin Fan was talking about. They even took a moment to take a closer look at Lin Fan, but none of them were able to recognize his face.
They were all certain that they had never seen this person before, so they knew that there shouldn’t be a grudge between them and this person.
If it was a grudge between their three families and the Mu Empire, they would be even more clear on that. After all, the Mu Empire was a powerful force that they didn’t dare offend, so they would immediately if something went wrong.
After making sure that they didn’t know what Lin Fan was talking about, the one from the Duanmu Family said, “Sir envoy, I don’t understand what you mean by that. We should have never met before, so how could there be a grudge between us?”
Lin Fan didn’t seem to care as he said with a smile, “If I say that there is one, then there is one. Do you have the right to say anything?”
The expressions of these three turned ugly behind their masks when they heard this.
After all, they never expected the envoy of the Mu Empire to have such a bad attitude.
If they knew that this was the case, they definitely wouldn’t have done this.
It was just that it was too late to regret this decision.
The only thing that they could do now was figure out a way to avoid damaging the relationship between them and implicating their families.
Well that also included getting out of here with their lives.
It would all be over if they lost their lives now and they all knew that they wouldn’t be able to fight their way out of this. They weren’t even able to resist the pressure that was currently on them, so there was no way that they would be able to fight back even if they wanted to.
All they could do was hope that their bribes would be enough…
“Sir envoy, while I don’t know what grudges are between us, I’m sure that there’s a way for us to talk this through. If there’s anything that you desire, you can tell us and we’ll get it for you from our families.”
Then in a more enticing voice, he said, “You should know the wealth and status that our families have in this Han Kingdom, I’m sure that we’ll be able to satisfy your desires.”
“Ha, ha, ha.” They didn’t have a chance to say anything else as Lin Fan directly laughed in their faces like this.
All three of them revealed uglier expressions when they heard this, but they didn’t lose hope as the one from the Duanmu Family asked, “Sir envoy, is there a problem? I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with what I said.”
Lin Fan continued laughing for a bit before looking down at the three of them with a cold look in his eyes, “Why bother when you’re about to die here?”
“What?” All three of them said in shocked voices.
Before they could say anything else, they found that there was a new pressure that forced them to keep their mouth shut. It was just like the pressure that was keeping them on the ground, but it was focused on their mouths to stop them from talking.
Lin Fan casually waved his hand and there was something that pulled the masks off their faces.
When he did this, there was a tremble that came from Duanmu Ming Xue beside him.
It seemed that she recognized this person from the Duanmu Family.
So Lin Fan turned to her and gave a nod.
Duanmu Ming Xue hesitated for a second, but she eventually reached up to pull her hood back and reveal her face.
The moment that the one from the Duanmu Family saw her, there was a shocked look that appeared on his face, “How could it be you? What are you doing here with the envoy from the Mu Empire?”
The two from the other families looked a bit confused at first, but then they slowly realized why the one from the Duanmu Family was acting like this.
“Fourth uncle, I knew that it would be you.” Duanmu Ming Xue said in a soft voice.
The one that she called fourth uncle deeply knitted his brows before saying in an enlightened voice, “I finally get it, this is why the envoy from the Mu Empire is acting this way.” Then narrowing his eyes, he said, “Are you even the envoy from the Mu Empire?”
The other two narrowed their eyes as well to look at Lin Fan.
Lin Fan just calmly raised the token that he showed previously before saying, “Of course.”
“How could someone like her possibly get the backing of the Mu Empire?” Duanmu Ming Xue’s fourth uncle said in a shocked voice.
He didn’t doubt the token since he could feel that aura coming from it.
As someone from one of the three founding families, he naturally knew what kind of aura these tokens that represented a country’s influence felt like. So he knew that this token that Lin Fan was holding was the real thing which shocked him even more.
Lin Fan however immediately revealed a cold gaze that he cast on Duanmu Ming Xue’s fourth uncle before saying, “Someone like you isn’t qualified to call her that.”
Duanmu Ming Xue’s fourth uncle and the other two were only in the Peak Foundation Realm, so they couldn’t actually take Lin Fan’s pressure that was in the Golden Core Realm.
They felt chills run down their spines as if they had been frozen in ice when that cold gaze fell onto them.
They really didn’t know what to say in response to this.
Lin Fan didn’t care about that as he said, “Now, you’re going to give me the information that I want. If you don’t, then you’ll suffer. If you give me the information that I want, I’ll give you a swift release.”
Ugly expressions appeared on the faces of the three when they heard this.
So it seemed that no matter what happened, they wouldn’t be able to survive this.
Then why would they cooperate?
Unless they had a chance to survive, it wasn’t as if they would actually cooperate.
But none of them got a chance to say anything as a painful sensation came from inside of them.
“No, wait!” That was all that they got to say before spitting out mouthfuls of blood and having their faces fall into the ground.
