The only family left after both the Ouyang Family and the Bei Family were wiped out was the Duanmu Family.
However, the way that the Duanmu Family was wiped out was different from the other two.
This time, Lin Fan asked King Han not to be involved. He even asked King Han to avoid the place where he would be taking care of the Duanmu Family.
King Han was surprised to hear this since he thought that Lin Fan would want some kind of support from him, but he didn’t want this at all. In fact, he didn’t want King Han involved with this at all with the way that he made this request.
King Han naturally knew the reason why Lin Fan made this request, so he respected it and chose to leave them to it.
“Take care of yourself.”
That was the last thing that King Han said before leaving this to Lin Fan and Duanmu Ming Xue.
When it was just the two of them, Lin Fan turned to Duanmu Ming Xue and asked, “Are you prepared?”
Duanmu Ming Xue didn’t say anything as she just silently looked at the valley that the Duanmu Family was waiting in.
This was another perfect ambush spot that the Duanmu Family was waiting in, but it was a bit different since this place was a valley. The Duanmu Family were waiting on the cliff on either side, watching over the lush greenery inside of the valley.
They were waiting for King Han and Lin Fan to arrive.
It was just that they had already arrived and they had completely surrounded the Duanmu Family.
Unlike before, the Duanmu Family had no idea that there were spirit beasts in the surrounding area and they had been completely surrounded by these spirit beasts.
As long as Lin Fan gave the order, it would be the end of the Duanmu Family’s forces.
But he didn’t as he waited for Duanmu Ming Xue to come to terms with her feelings.
There was a long silence before Duanmu Ming Xue finally said, “I’m ready.”
“There’s no need to rush.” Lin Fan said as he could see the look that was on her face.
But Duanmu Ming Xue showed her conviction by putting on her hood and giving a nod to Lin Fan.
Seeing this, Lin Fan knew that there was nothing else to say.
He raised his arm and said, “Send them in.”
“What is going on?!”
That was the only reaction of the Duanmu Family as they were completely surrounded by these spirit beasts.
The strongest members of the Duanmu Family were only in the Qi Condensing Realm and there were plenty of spirit beasts in the Qi Condensing Realm around them, so it didn’t take long for the Duanmu Family experts to be overwhelmed.
No matter how hard they tried, they were surrounded by these spirit beasts.
Even when they tried to group together, they found that these spirit beasts actually came forward to cut them off.
Spreading out for the ambush had come to bite them in the butt as they weren’t able to gather together at all. It seemed that this just spread their forces too thin to fight back against the spirit beasts.
It didn’t take long before the first member of the Duanmu Family fell.
There were just too many spirit beasts that surrounded them at the same time that they were overwhelmed. Even when they saw that person crumpling under the attacks of the spirit beasts surrounding him, they could only watch as the spirit beasts finished this person off.
Once a casualty appeared, it sunk in for the members of the Duanmu Family that they were in a life or death situation. It sobered them up and they realized that if they didn’t go all out, it was only a matter of time before they all died.
“Take this!”
There were several members of the Duanmu Family that suddenly released their full power.
It seemed that they stopped holding back in hopes of achieving their original goal. They were going all out as if their lives depended on it, which it actually did.
As soon as they went all out, the spirit beasts were temporarily pushed back by the experts of the Duanmu Family. It seemed that there was an opportunity for them to escape this place.
It was just that this was a false hope.
After they pushed them back and found some time to catch their breath, they found that the number of spirit beasts suddenly increased.
The experts of the Duanmu Family didn’t have any idea where these spirit beasts came from, but they suddenly appeared and completely surrounded them.
It seemed like they were trapped even more than before.
At the same time, they could feel the aura that was coming from the spirit beasts. They could tell that none of the spirit beasts that had suddenly appeared like this were weak at all.
It really seemed like there was no other choice for them…
Only…where did all of these spirit beasts come from?
They just couldn’t understand why they had been surrounded like this.
The Duanmu Family Head gritted his teeth for a bit before saying, “Just hold out until they come! Once sir envoy arrives, he’ll help us break out of this!”
The Duanmu Family experts had grim looks on their faces, but traces of hope appeared.
Even if they didn’t think that they would be able to escape being surrounded by all of these spirit beasts, this was the little bit of hope that they needed to keep fighting. As long as there was hope, humans would be able to hold on.
Unfortunately, this was all false hope.
The Duanmu Family Head had to watch as more and more members of the Duanmu Family were taken out by the spirit beasts that surrounded them.
In no time at all, it was just a few elders and him that were left.
With the shape that they were in, it didn’t seem like they would be making it out of this place.
But all of a sudden, the spirit beasts stopped attacking.
Though they stopped attacking, they still surrounded the Duanmu Family Head and the elders of the Duanmu Family. The way that they surrounded them was as if they wouldn’t let them escape from their blockade.
However, none of the spirit beasts did a single thing.
“What is happening?” The elders of the Duanmu Family asked in a shocked voice.
The Duanmu Family Head however had a strange feeling.
He looked at the spirit beasts that were just watching them with narrowed eyes, as if he was trying to figure out something.
Then all of a sudden, he said, “Are you just going to keep watching or are you going to come out? I’m sure that there’s something that you want to say.”
Then as if responding to him, there were two figures that suddenly appeared.
When they appeared, the entire Duanmu Family group had shocked looks on their faces.
After all, they never expected to see these two.
The elders all looked at one person who they recognized as the envoy from the Mu Empire.
However, the Duanmu Family Head was looking at the other cloaked figure that was standing beside Lin Fan.
The Duanmu Family Head was able to recognize that this cloaked figure was the same one that had come to the Duanmu Family on Lin Fan’s behalf before, but there was a strange look in his eyes as he looked at this cloaked figure.
Slowly, the Duanmu Family Head asked, “Why did you…”
Then he caught himself as he revealed a faint bitter smile and said, “No, it’s quite obvious why you did this. If only I had listened to her before when she told me the truth.”
The elders of the Duanmu Family looked at the Duanmu Family Head with confused looks when they heard this.
It was clear that they had no idea what he was talking about.
But even though the Duanmu Family Head could see the elders looking at him like this, he didn’t say anything as he kept looking at the cloaked figure. The way that he looked at this cloaked figure was as if he was waiting for an answer to the question that he asked.
The cloaked figure didn’t seem to react even though they had been asked this question.
It was as if they didn’t hear the Duanmu Family Head at all.
The Duanmu Family Head just slightly knitted his brows at this without saying anything, as if he was going to wait for an answer until the end.
This caused an awkward silence to fill the air.
That was until the cloaked figure finally moved.
The cloaked figure’s slender hands came out of the cloak and reached up for the hood.
When they pulled back the hood, the elders of the Duanmu Family revealed shocked looks.
Just a single look was enough for them to recognize this person.
Which was why they were completely filled with shock the moment that they saw her.
Not a single one of them had expected to see her here.
“Why is it you?”
“How could it be you?”
That was the only thing that the elders were able to say when they saw Duanmu Ming Xue standing in front of them.
After taking a long time to finally come back to their senses, one of the elders asked, “How could you do something like this? We’re your family?”
“Ha, family? Did you ever consider me a part of your family?” Duanmu Ming Xue asked with a cold laugh.
